You know, he does these as if there are not differences in the level of play. He doesn't get the concept of apples to oranges. I remember when he basically said we were even with Tennessee, or we had an edge, and then we got our behinds handed to us.

Last week he had us, position by position, pretty close to even with Jax State, because like us, they had returnees, in those positions, who were of good size and speed, and were all-conference, etc. But a returning, all-conference player at the FCS level is not equal to a returning player at the FBS level.

And, though we often don't want to admit it, most players on G5 teams are not the same as those on P5 teams, even if on the stat sheet they are "even"--and especially when the P5 team is loaded with 5-star depth and talent and ranked #2 in the nation. Truth be told, the advantage should be to Georgia at every position. Now, that doesn't guarantee a victory, which is why they play the games on the field. But it does make this a silly exercise.

He also doesn’t put any context — these should be position vs position — UAB OL vs Georgia DL etc. Matchups matter as much as anything.

Bottom line is UAB has a part time beat writer who does the best he can but gets no help at all from al.com leadership because they don’t care at all about having good UAB coverage. What they do, they do out of obligation and with a sneer.

Evan desperately needs an editor who coaches him and helps him improve. Clearly he doesn’t have that.

I think that’s a good assessment of the situation, and it ain’t gonna change, for him or for us.
