RE: AAC Board
That board is strong with the butt hurt right now. Sucks to go from "P6!" to losing your best teams. What none of those fans seem to understand is those lucky teams appear to have found The Golden Ticket really just moved up to a new level created within the Group they were already in. They didn't move up nearly as far as the L8 fell. The Alliance shows that the P5 doesn't exist anymore. At best it's a P4 and that won't last either.

It's a good move for the 3 AAC schools but it's not The Ascension that it's being made out to be on their board.

As far as the fans of the schools in the AAC, **** em. They decide nothing. I just want the chance to beat their teams and rub their faces in it.

Bingo, any gains for those going to b12 are temporary. see Big East.

RE: AAC Board
You have to truly understand the frustration of USF fans right now as they are in a mess entirely of their own making.

USF is the reason the Big East blew up. USF was the driving force in rejecting the ESPN contract that would have kept the BE together, with their objections being an attempt to block UCF’s entry.

USF is the most entitled golden ticket program in ncaa history. With no achievement or history and little investment in athletics relative to peers who have been at it for decades, they got into the Big East after being fast tracked into CUSA. They got that BCS label while doing NOTHING to deserve it except be located in Tampa, Fla. They rose to No. 2 in the BCS rankings and smashed UCF 64-12. They beat Florida State and Notre Dame too.

All of this was undone by a university president who got too slick. So the last decade has been chickens coming home to roost. They haven’t invested into their program while UCF spent hundreds of millions to build all new facilities for every sport.

Btw, UAB is 1-1 against them in football and has owned them like a rented mule in basketball (38-21 series lead).

Yup. Every single L8 team is trying to get to the PAC, B10, or ACC. If the SEC wanted them, they would be there now. They either move or learn to love the G-Life.

PLUS, I don't think the new playoff format survives either. Won't be an auto bid for the soon to be Big 12. If there was, they would have been included in the Alliance. The writing is clearly there on the wall if you want to see it.

So, I've been monitoring that expansion thread on the AAC board, and if you read the whole thing, you can see the evolution of thought. It's really pretty funny.

Stage 1
UAB? Don't make me laugh. Those scrubs aren't going anywhere.

Stage 2
I swear to God, if we invite UAB I'll burn my season tickets.

Stage 3
Okay, so UAB and who else?

We are at stage 3.

RE: AAC Board
The USF hate is really bizarre, along with the random Tulane fan there too. I get why those guys are upset, but this UAB athletic department isn’t what is was a decade or two ago. Things have changed, and even a coaching change won’t destroy everything that has been built. I get as a fan that raising the MWC sounds good right now, but I don’t see how that makes any sense for any party. We will find out how this all plays out soon enough.

I think the MWC is a non-starter for them, whether their fans think so or not.

I agree. I mean as a fan that would be my want as well. Unfortunately fans don’t get to make these decisions.

RE: AAC Board
USF fans have good reason to be upset. At one point they were second only to maybe Louisville in the fast-climber club of college football. Now they have seen TCU, UCF, Cinci, and Houston pass them and they are still playing in another teams stadium. Football has fallen hard and basketball is about like it's always been, mediocre.

Another reason for them to be pissed is they may be about to face a school regularly again that has been kicking their asses since Carter was president.

The cost of leaving C-USA was estimated at $5,677,570 in 2016 requiring at 14 month notice. Not sure how the numbers stack up today, but that is interesting. Also, with only a 14 month notice needed, it gives AAC a great deal of time to mull over their choices.

If anyone has more up to date data, please share.

I've noticed that, too. There are actually adults in the discussion when they had no reason to be before...

Granted they are blue bloods who actually have a history, but no other team in the NCAA can be called "most entitled" as long as the Texas Longhorns are still playing.

It's gotta be in the top 5, at least, of PR moves: Respond quickly as if you'd been planning. And, really, they have. Every AD knows whatever every other AD is hearing and prepping.

I’ve always felt the same way about Notre Dame.
