Chris Vanini at the Athletic listed Holy Cross’s HC, Al Golden and UComm alum/TV commentator Dan Orlovsky as possible candidates.

Give it to a grad assistant.

That football team is only for collecting a few buy game checks to fund basketball anyways.

They should rethink the Clemson game out of genuine safety concerns.

Randy Edsall decides to both sh*t (losing to Holy Cross by 10 points at home) AND get off the pot (resigned today effective immediately. Imagine being a player who chose to come back instead of going to a team who actually cares AT ALL.

Someone mentioned over on the college board that behind the scenes there was pressure to force him out to avoid paying bonus/performance money in his contract. He was probably the lamest duck head coach of all time - announcing your retirement two losses in and staring at a possible 0-12 season in the face.

He got fawked in this whole deal. Imagine trying to recruit after UCONN pulled the plug on the program.

True, but he wasn't performing since he came back for the second time. 6-31/32 or whatever it was.

You can’t build it back up if there is nothing to build to. He did well in his first stint there.

I feel sorry for him but that said Thomas Wolfe said it best when he said "You cannot go home again".

I'm not here to defend Edsall or advocate for his leaving but you can't defend 6-32 no matter the circumstances. Remember how we felt about Grubbs making his money and not performing? I can understand how UConn would be hesitant to pay bonuses to a guy who has a high probability to go winless this year. I agree this ain't the UConn of the old BE but you have to find a way to win a few more games than he has over the past four seasons. Holy Cross was the final straw. We also don't know what was being discussed privately - he lost the confidence of the team, no coaching effort/passion, etc.

Edsall out immediately. Will be paid his full $1.25 million 2021 salary. Lou Spanos takes over.

We know Scott Frost's seat is hot. Is Norvell's heating up?

If they fire another coach in two seasons or less, they're just going to keep spinning their tires in the mud. Not saying Norvell is going to lead them to the promised land, but you have to give a new coach some time before giving them the ax unless there is more going on than what's on the field/court.

Clay Helton fired in his eighth season at Southern California. Overall he finished 46-24 [.657], appeared in 5 bowls [2-3] and finished in final the AP poll 4 times. His best season was in 2016 when the Trojans finished 10-3, won the Rose Bowl and was ranked #3 in Final AP poll. Who ya got Mr. Bohn?

So, let the annual Luke Fickel rumors begin. His name along with James Franklin, Urb and PJ Fleck making the rounds...

I would expect Bohn to call and Fickell may even listen out of respect, but I can’t see him going to the West Coast.

I seriously doubt Mrs. Fickell wants to pick up 5 kids and move to the west coast.
