RE: 2021-22 Schedule
I dont think its unreasonable for us to get an at large. But to do so you have to win a lot, cant lose to bottom teams, and you have to challenge yourself in the non-conference. Coming off of a CAAT win, we should be targeting a difficult non conference. Again, would you rather be a 16 or a 13. Schedule matters, even if you slip up some in conference. I do think this coming season the bottom of the conference wont be as low either. So even if at large is out of the question, you want to give yourself the best chance at a higher seed. Falling into a 16 or even 15 just isnt good.

While the date doesn't appear to be set yet for this year, it's mentioned here that Temple is starting a home and home series with Drexel. So we should assume that Drexel will host Temple at the Palestra in 22-23, but I guess that game could be at the DAC. I assume that would depend on the cost of renting the Palestra and if the additional tickets revenue from Temple fans would be enough to absorb the rental costs.

We haven't heard much about WBB scheduling this year, but it appears as of they will be heading to San Diego over Thanksgiving break and will play Nebraska on 11/26 and either Fresno State or SD the next day. Good scheduling for our women's team.

More WBB scheduling. Drexel will host La Salle on 11/17, and will be out for revenge for their lost last year against a team that they usually dominate.

RE: 2021-22 Schedule
Back to Men's Basketball.
There are some schedule updates on the Wikipedia site.

Dragons will play St. Joe at Hagan on Wednesday November 17th
They will travel to Abilene, TX for the return of a home/home on Saturday December 11th.
Coppin State returns to the DAC on Tuesday December 14th.

No word yet on the Temple game. That's 10 OOC games. According to the Wikipedia schedule, there's 4 more openings. Not sure if they plan to fill them all or not.

And still no word about tickets. A newsletter went out today from the ticket office, but there was no information on it.

RE: 2021-22 Schedule
I know it would be short notice after the Nassau games, but I hope we end up with a home game over thanksgiving weekend preferably Saturday, that way I can try to attend a home game when I am back east.

Certainly not murderers row. The nebraska and SD/Fresno games are the marquee ones. Marist could be an interesting challenge as well, the rest should be easy games in the non-conference. Hopefully it plays out that way. 6 home and 3 away and 2 neutral is a nice get though.

If it's strong enough of a schedule help them get prepared for the CAA, then it's a good schedule. As we discussed earlier, the odds of an at-large bid is so slim, even with women's CAA being rather tough. I don't see any benefit in them loading up their schedule with power schools. JMU and ODU did that when they had stronger teams, but I don't think Drexel is or will ever be at that level.

RE: 2021-22 Schedule
I disagree with that sentiment. JMU and Drexel have routinely had strong RPI numbers that could put them in that category for consideration. What has held us back is winning games against good teams. Even when we scheduled some tough teams, we dont fare well, or havent anyhow. Those are the games that prepare us for beating the JMU's more consistently and then having a chance at an upset in the NCAAT. Learning to play against bigger teams with more talent, wont just happen. Piling up wins has its purpose, but I think we have the skill as a program to be a fringe at large bid every single year. I would like us to schedule tougher to potentially give us that chance in more up years.

Side note, I do truly hope that we find a way to get Villanova back on the schedule yearly. That is such a winning game for both programs. Was sad to see it not there this season

And the Men's schedule is finally released.

The additions to the schedule is the home opener against Jim Rullo's Neumann University. I know how "excited" everyone is to see them open up the season against a Division III team.

The game that I'm excited about on the schedule is the road game at Princeton on Saturday December 4th.

All three of Drexel's OOC home games will be played as doubleheaders with the women's team. I like doubleheaders.

We really couldn't get a "Rider or Buffalo or Niagara etc." instead of Neumann? I like the addition of Princeton though.

RE: 2021-22 Schedule
Last year before Covid, there were plans for Drexel to play New Hampshire at the DAC so that Bill Herrion could come back and they could celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1996 team. It's a shame they couldn't get that done this year. Not sure how many years Herrion has left as a head coach, considering his long lack of success lately.

Do D2/D3 teams pay us? I would think that would be a reason why we always book one.

I highly doubt it. As much as we hate it, it's just become a common thing these days. Many schools in the CAA book 2-3 DII and DIII schools every year. We're giving lower level players the experience to see how they stack up against Division I talent.

We have an intern at work who plays for Ursinus. He told me that they might be playing Lehigh this year and he's really excited for that opportunity. I remember going to the Ursinus/Penn game a few years back that was sandwiched in between a Palestra tripleheader of 2 Drexel games. Ursinus almost pulled off the major upset that day.

I think we pay them in the same way Syracuse pays us to come play them. The reason is to get home games. Since Coppin State is coming to the DAC again, it is likely that is a buy game as well.

There are alot of low quality D1 schools that could give us a similar result... I still don't know why they can't call them. There are plenty of last place teams you can find on the East coast.
