It would also make sense to allow people to prove prior infection, as immunity in recovered individuals is more robust than vaccination.

I think wanting to require proof of vaccination via your vaccination card is over-reach. Just trust people right..

If I have 2 bottles of vodka and drive home, I'm just accepting personal risk. If I drive into 4 people, well, I mean, that's against the law and I'll do my 90 days (and they'll be dead.) At least it's my freedom to have vodka and dent my fender 4 times. Freedom, yo.

I don't understand why you can't just trust people.

Your analogy is absurd and makes no sense. If you think that is valid then we can surely use the flu analogy which is far closer than what you went with......oh and probably not a great analogy either (so we can clear that one up too).

Is there a readily available vaccine to protect from drunk drivers no......Can you wear a mask to protect yourself from a drunk driver it you want no.

When you have 50,000 attending Oregon, even just 0.1% aberrant behavior will get you 50 people trying to use fake vaccine cards or fake negative COVID tests at the gate.
It has already happened at other sporting events and concerts.

Vaccinated - you are in
Not vaccinated, but Negative COVID test - you are in
Creating a forged vax card or forged COVID test - the only thing you are in is jail. 5 years for the felony.
Yeah the "Up to 5 yrs," but lol if you think people are going to get 5 yr sentences for using a fake vax card.

Right this would be absurd......I thought we were not supposed to lock folks away for minor infractions.

RE: 2021 summer preseason thread
And JMU is starting to grease the skids. Here is what they released today for COVID protocol.

JMU Athletics will require masking for guests in all indoor environments at all facilities until further notice. The masking requirement applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

Fans must follow all posted health and safety instructions. Examples of indoor settings requiring a mask include:
Bridgeforth Stadium club, suites (indoors only), press box, interior hallways, restrooms and elevators
Athletics and non-Athletics events in the Atlantic Union Bank Center

That sucks for the club seats and suite holders. Good luck policing that though. Hey Mr. $100k donor put your mask on. Ummm, do you want the $100k or do you want me to wear a mask? Pick one.

It sucks even more for the AUBC with everyone being inside. Hosting UVA for a big big game and we will be muffled with masks.
COVID sucks.

Offensive line shows improvement per Coach in Madia’s field notes. The pre season Walk through podcast is posted in the DNR as well.

No, there weren’t any RR mask police in the spring. I doubt they’ll add them for the fall.

I'm excited for the season to start.

Then I'm excited for Weber. (different venue, and top 10 FBS opponent)

Then I'm excited for the conference play to start.

Then that get's boring and I'm excited for playoffs.

Other then Weber - not really too excited about anyone on our schedule. Perhaps UD is my next most interested game.

Will watch every game, but not excited by schedule.

RE: 2021 summer preseason thread
From todays DNR, talking about the punt returners- I sure hope we improve from just fair catching...

The competition for the punt-return gig is also up in the air, though, Cignetti has narrowed the choices down from four contenders to three. He said cornerbacks Jordan Swann and Jack Sroba as well as receiver Kris Thornton are vying for the job.

“We haven’t made a final decision,” Cignetti said. “Sroba catches the ball well. Swann can make you miss. Thornton can take it the distance, but he has to work on his judgement on short kicks a little bit. But the number one thing is get the ball caught. But, we’d like to do something with it, too, and I think that can be a weapon for us.”

Think he means Scroba "fair catches" the ball well. If he's in competition, am sure he realizes that he needs to up his return game.

Game notes are up...seems like Billy Atkins has worked himself into the mix at QB. Kyle Adams, a bit surprisingly perhaps, isn't in the competition at the moment. If you listen to the recent podcast with Madia and his local counterpart, Bentley apparently has a pretty big arm.

That is wrong. Folks with a prior infection are significantly more likely to be infected again (2.34x) than folks who are fully vaccinated.

If there's anything I learned at JMU, it was to show your sources.

Also noticed that we are back to Camden Wise doing the kickoffs. We had the Bridgewater transfer Connor Madden doing it last year. My recollection was that Wise had a number of short kickoffs, but that was in 2019 and things may have changed.

Also saw that Van Horse is not listed in the top 4 at RBs. I had thought Coach was trying to utilize him more in space. Guess we'll see if he has a role other than KR.

*****Update- Madia just tweeted that Connor Madden is done for the year.
News: JMU kickoff specialist Connor Madden has a torn ACL and is out for the season, per team SID Chris Brooks.

I think losing Madden is a big loss......that guy could put in deep in the end zone anytime you wanted him too which I would just assume be done, no need to get cute kicking to the corners or trying for the 5 yard line. It is not worth the risk in my opinion. Hopefully Camden Wise has developed more leg strength b/c he could not do that and why we went out and got Madden.

Also surprised not to see Ayamel and Taurus Jones in the 2 deep.
