Why am I not surprised he’d want an area to wine & dine and probably just for the small handful of boosters he truly engaged?

What Kent needs to do is find a way to utilize upper seating on the East side of the MAC Center (old media area) then find a way (cut upper glass to hear the games???) to utilize 'social area' on third level at South end of MAC Center.

Finally ... move Gymnastics practice area to the annex and repurpose that space for any number of things (new offices, dedicated media center, weight room, other).

question: any news of a new arena? or (at the very least) bleachers that reach to the railing of the 2nd level. it looks amateurish/2nd rate right now.. has been for awhile.

i LOVE this team sooo much! been die hard fan since freshman year 1982. it is my fave sports team (college or pro.) anyone else feel this way?

from what i can tell, the team looks strong, physical & talented :)

any rumors about additions to the schedule?

go flashes!! 04-rock04-rock

There's been talk for quite some time about 'upgrading' or perhaps 'renovating' the MAC center, but don't believe there has ever been a real $$$ push to get things started. Fact is, MAC Center is located in about the best spot available, ringed by student housing. Moving it somewhere else (by Dix???) takes that advantage away. True, it's not huge. But it is a lot more student attendance than most in the league with the potential of adding significant more if the right team/games align.

And believe it or not, the MAC Center looks almost 90-percent like Cameron Indoor (I've seen/been inside both)... so make it comfortable and the games exciting and maybe ....

As for the 21-22 team, I wouldn't even make a guess. I thought last season would be a real struggle but was actuallu surprised at both the style of play and the number of wins until the wheels feel off at the end.

So I'll just wait and see.

There is a printed brochure showing renovation plans for MAC center from
2-3 years ago. Several dinners were held at President Warrens home with
prospective donors. Power point presentation showed architectural plans and costs for various renovations. Total cost was $15-30 million depending on enhancements.

All the state will pay for is structural improvements to non-classroom buildings meaning HVAC , Roof , etc.

To my knowledge the plan did not gain any footing or large financial commitments.

Later the previous AD had a plan to permanently remove student seating at gymnastics end of MAC center and use this as a social area for pre-game and post-game. ( It was tried for several Dec games ) This idea was met with many protests , fortunately that AD and his Asst are now departed.

My view comparing Cameron indoor to MAC center is like comparing
DIX Stadium to Ohio Stadium …. Ridiculous.
I’ve been to Cameron , it’s clean , well maintained , well run and hallowed ground. Kent has never honored and respected its history. MAC center history is known to only a few. It’s a dump and has been for 30 years.

Indeed ... comparing Dix Stadium (less than 50,000) to Ohio Stadium (over 100,000) is ridiculous.

As for the MAC Center (6,300) and Cameron (9,300) and the 'bones' of both arenas they're very comparable; baseline bleachers, exposed steal beams above, upper/lower level seating and more. Even the hallways around the bb court ar much like the MAC Center. Identical, no. But kissing cousins for sure in my mind.

Getting rid of the glass would likely impact how loud it gets. Even with a small crow the MACC can get really loud. Personally feel this is a nice home court advantage.

Agree on getting rid of glass and MACC being great home court. Good teams win regardless of venue. That’s #1. Win

I've always been a believer of filling up the lower-level with GA ticketholders. At least on the west side. Everyone in the building sitting along the court. That would be marvelous for us and frightening to visitors!

Something that's interesting about this season. This is the first time since probably Jaylin Walker's sophomore year that we didn't enter the season knowing we had one player that would take a high volume of shots, sometimes questionable. It will be interesting to see who our top offensive options are and if any of them slip into that role. Our top returning scorers are Beck, Jacobs, Gio, and Hamilton none of which have shown questionable shot selection. On paper the newcomers that are most likely to have big offensive roles are Carry and Davis. Neither of which have looked like that type of guy at their previous schools. Could be an offense that spreads it around and takes good shots.

I would go all the way back to perhaps Dev Manley's junior/senior years for a spread-around offense. ... That said, I would guess the transfer from Georgia would likely be that guy on this team or perhaps Carey. If Kent can have one 15 ppg guy, and 4-5 more right around at least 10 ppg that should be enough to go to war with behind a solid defense and a decent bench.

I do believe there will be several guys between 8-12 points a game. The key will be who is capable of making a big shot when needed ... and has the gonads to not shy away from the moment, much like Al Fisher and JWalker.

JWalker/Al Fisher justifiably had detractors but 1) both were fearless and 2) both were very good at making tough/bad shots, particularly inside the 3-point arc.

While everybody likes a deadeye shooter ... Kent's best players over the years have been more 'scorers' than shooters (including Fisher/Walker - although Walker fancied himself a shooter).

Manley and Gio are the only true 'shooters' in my mind that have survived under Sendy. He has recruited several 'shooters' over the years, but he actually 'plays' scorers over shooters, for the most part. Actually, the only other true 'shooter' with a good career at Kent since 2000 was Haut. (Yes, Trevor and Drew made a lot of 3-pointers, but statistically, they were average 3-point shooters -- much better scorers).

Just one opinion.

It was only one year, but Simons was an elite shooter.

Trevor Huffman was the best example of being a "scorer". I have no data to back me up, but watching him for four years it seemed to me that the more critical the situation the more likely he was to score.

Anybody heard any news on the Robert Morris scrimmage ... or practice news in general. Pretty quiet it seems.

5 passes before anyone shoots the ball is what I'm hearing with a minimum of 30 shots per game between Hamilton, Beck, Odusipe and Hornbreak.

SEC transfers both yet to practice. Injuries .
Scrimmage with Robert Morris not as cohesive as hoped. No score provided but hearing we didn’t play up to expectations.( not unusual)

St Bonaventure next. Many have them as preseason top 25.
Two weeks until opener. Xavier tough opener.

The annual injury situation is becoming as annoying as the annual transfer in & out situation. I know I'm one of the oldest, if not the oldest, people on this forum, but I remember a time when injuries in basketball were fairly rare. In recent times it has become more like football!

Well these guys want to be just like the NBA guys even if it means little nicks and nuisances have them sitting like Lebron et al via "load management". Long gone are the days when some guy named "Wilt" averaged 48.5 minutes per game.07-coffee3
