Don't forget they only test unvaccinated staff and students. Tells me there are quite a few there are not vaccinated.

Not true. If a student is tested anywhere, the health department finds out if they are attending school anywhere and it's reported to the school. Doesn't matter if they are vaccinated or not. My daughter attends UNCW. Her boyfriend and his roommate were vaccinated, both tested positive at a doctors office and it was reported to UNCW.

It is absolutely 100% true ,not sure where you get your info but this was announced a while back and is the protocol there right now. UNCW does not require students/staff to be tested that are vaccinated-it's not hard to understand that . If not you are required to be tested weekly by UNCW and that is the fact. If they get tested on their own and are positive it should be reported without question.

Saw that the other day and it's 1 billion % true! Logic and common sense have gone out the window

FYI, tests are being administered without charge to all faculty, staff, and students without charge at the Rec Center. Unvaccinated students and faculty are "required" to be tested weekly (not clear that's being enforced), but all university personnel are eligible for free testing.

I saw my neighbor walking his dog this morning and from a distance he let me know that he has COVID even though he's vaccinated. His kids are supposed to start school on Monday; 1 can't go because they're unvaccinated(underage), but the other kid is fine to come to school because he is vaccinated.

I'm so confused how that makes sense to the point where it is the county school policy.

I've had a really tough time applying logic to many of the "rules" throughout the whole ordeal, because it doesn't exist with a lot of it. I'm a firm believer in consistency, and there has been anything but.

Its all about the feelings

Its bad policy to just admit its a virus that we are all susceptible too and will probably get at one point or another

Per WRAl news, UNCW going all virtual due to a big Covid outbreak at the university unless I didn't hear it correctly. I may be wrong but that is what I heard them say. I think that they said it was like 500 in a week but I may be wrong because the volume was low on TV. Regardless, that is news to me. Let's hope that it gets under control. Again, that is what I heard from WRAL and I'm pretty sure it was the Dub. Hope I'm wrong.

It sounds like they are testing a bunch and that's probably why they had the numbers. Let's face it, people, especially young people, are not going to wear masks and not fully vaccinate so it can happen. My hope is that it all works out at our beloved institution. And, I totally understand that people have different opinions on mask and vaccine efficacy which is cool and their right to do so (I go the opposite extreme always double masking and vaccinated but I"m on the other end of the spectrum relative to many people-again that is just mine and my family's choice). This is just what the "Big 5" was reporting. They went on to add that State had like 350 cases or so and Carolina something similar.

Let's hope that we can get this crazy thing under control so that the kids can have a normal education for once! It sucks to have this over our heads but we have to press on. My hope is that UNCW hoops can have a normal year and play games in front of fans. My bet is that they will institute a mask policy for indoor games at some point however. I was at a Leesville football game tonight and 90 percent of the fans/students had no mask on for example so I get it. I'm in the minority here but soon it may be mandated for football games as well.

This variant has hit very close to home for me and I have to stay clear because I solely take care of my parents who can't take the vaccine and are elderly. Everybody has a story and that is mine. I have no choice but to steer clear but still support my youngest son at football games as a parent even if I'm one of the 10 percent.

UNCW has NOT gone totally virtually. Students were informed yesterday that some classes were going online TEMPORARILY. Depends on the class and the instructor. The report yesterday was that 469 students and 7 faculty were active cases.

Boy for what was supposed to be an "immanent" announcement regarding attending sporting events they sure seem to be dragging their feet. I can tell you one thing for certain, our athletic department can ill afford to not have attendance at the main sports that drive revenue.
