Imo free and on TV is better than a pittance and on espn3. And seen by no one that doesn't purposely seek it out. How do you grow new fans if they never watch a game.
ESPN buys up media rights to gain a monopoly. Suppression is just an after effect.
BTW, if you look behind the Texas/Oklahoma move, you will see ESPN. TV runs sports, and a lot of TV is getting out of sports.
BTW… free and on TV when you want to see the Sky grow their audience and the young (my daughter, for instance) are much heavier into streaming. I smell disconnect. Or, I hate to say it, but that’s kind of a “tell us you’re old without telling us you’re old” comment. And I’m old enough to only really stream, oh, 1.5 services.

I see a lot of ESPN hate, but it should be directed towards the colleges and cable companies too. I won’t get into it, but we should be thankful the WAC is with “ESPN”. Go ask the DC United, FC Cincinnati, and CAA fans how they like/d FloSports. NMSU football didn’t really play last year, let’s see how their out of region alumni like it this season.
Being on ESPN+ is better than being on FS2 once a week and everything else on WAC Digital. Every conference had the option of not doing business with ESPN and most choose to do so. They have the distribution and that’s what really matters.

Has this been confirmed?
The SFA football voice said his contract was based on digital platform when SFA’s fan site announced he was on ESPN3/+ and that hopefully news would be shared at media day this Wednesday

Just a personal opinion, but would much rather go with ESPN. I think it gives better over-all exposure and a lot more variety of games to watch. I really have no interest in switching streaming. ESPN served us well in the SLC with a smaller geographical radius between conference foes. I think it would serve us better with the larger Western footprint.

Is it ESPN hate when I mention others who want no part?
Eh, you always have to be wary of a monopoly. But it’s not likely anyone was turned into a BSC fan by Pluto, it’s not as if CBSSN drives a lot of traffic, NBC seems to get worse at sports, and Fox doesn’t seem like a network venturing far from the P5. Options are limited.

Which is why they pick up the feed from the WAC and insert their ads during the game, while WAC schools get nothing back.

RE: Semi OT: Big Sky Television Deal
We always hear bad mouthing by CAA fans of their "agreement" with FloSports. The league extended it two years today
Quote:RICHMOND, Va. (August 12, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association and FloSports have agreed to an expansion of their streaming rights partnership making FloSports the exclusive digital platform for live and on-demand coverage of 13 conference sports.
The expanded agreement provides a minimum of 850 CAA events to FloSports annually over the next two years. All regular season CAA-controlled football and men’s and women’s basketball games will air exclusively on FloSports on the digital side with CAA member institutions retaining rights for local linear television distribution.
FloSports continues to invest in collegiate sports at all levels with this new expanded agreement that includes an increased annual rights fee to the CAA. The investment enhances the exposure of CAA sports and makes them available to a global audience while strengthening the CAA’s ability to build a greater direct relationship with fans.
“We are pleased to expand our partnership with FloSports for the next two years,” CAA Commissioner Joe D’Antonio said. “FloSports has done a great job promoting the conference and we’re excited to provide CAA fans with a single streaming platform where they can watch nearly every game in a variety of sports.”

RE: Semi OT: Big Sky Television Deal
ESPN+ likes working with ACU TV because ACU handles most of the legwork of the broadcasting and producing. I am an ESPN fan because I can see most of the games I need/want to. I don't wish to buy multiple different packages by different companies. That's the issue with streaming. For now that means I miss out on live broadcasts of some of the other conference's games.
