RE: South Endzone Field Club
I am going to be interested to see what concessions will be available this year and what the prices are. I have not seen any news about seating policy unless I missed it. I get the program is trying to maximize revenues but again the focus should be to get more butts in the seats they already have and get some revenue vs. zero revenue that empty seats generate. At some point in the near future I will be transitioning to a fixed income so costs of games either men's hoops or football becomes a consideration. An example recently was my wife and I went to Pizza Ranch in Grand Rapids and the price had increased by $3 per person and they ran out of our favorite fried chicken due to a 200 piece takeout order. The local Ford truck dealer raised its price from a sticker of $47,000 to $67,000 yes that is $20,000 over sticker just because there is a shortage. My point here is folks at some point will decide to just say no rather than pay more for less which seems like the American business way these days.

Once again bringing up DCFC - they have a pretty elegant solution to concessions. They subcontract some - but not all - of their concessions to outside vendors. These vendors thus compete for the market of the fans at the matches and this leads to lower prices and bigger portions. Every year i tell the department they should do the same thing. You have all that space - get some food trucks down there and make them work for my money. If any of you have ever been to a City match you know what I'm talking about. its the best value for food and drink that i personally have ever seen.

RE: South Endzone Field Club
I just got an email about about NORTH end zone field suite. Packages include either 50 or 75 tickets.

I have been field level once in my (recent) life. The game looks a lot different, 1,000% faster, etc. Completely different than sitting in the stands up 10 - 15 rows.

It is amazing how the view changes your perspective of the game. When my boys (I have three of them) were playing youth football, I had the chance to see the game from three very different perspectives. With my oldest, I watched as a fan in the stands. With my middle son, I watched as the game announcer from the press box. With my youngest (Alex), I watched as a coach from the sidelines.

The game is the "fastest" when you're on the sidelines. As a coach, though, you are watching specific aspects of the game (I was a D-Line coach, focusing mostly on the D-Ends and containment), so the perspective is great for coaching your area of responsibility.

If you are trying to enjoy the game, the sidelines are terrible. Your best option is higher up in the stands where you can see the game clearly and get caught up in the spirit of the crowd.

For a true appreciation of the sport, there is nothing like watching from the press box where your view of the whole field is completely unobscured, and you can clearly see how the play develops on both sides of the ball. Given a choice, I would watch every game from the pressbox.

Agree. I was once along the sidelines for a college game (won't say where and when) but seeing players coming toward you is like watch a car crash. The speed and size is amazing.

Detroit City plays at historic Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck. It is an outdoors stadium and an old WPA build.

I haven't been there is a few years but DCFC games are fantastic. The soccer is good but the crowd is the real show.

Fantastic Atmosphere, cheap beer, affordable tickets, good on field product - what more could you want?

Totally agree! I was treated a couple of seasons ago to the private box at Rynearson. Not only was the viewing fabulous but I got to rub elbows with Ken Barna who has arguably the best seat in the house!
