The phony embargo stuff is hilarious. Cuba has trade with a bunch of countries. Leftists would have to admit that Capitalistic USA companies only could save Cuba lol.

They have very limited trade. The vast majority of goods are scarce and the stores are pretty much empty most of the time. The US embargo...while actually hurting the Cuban people...has pushed them closer and closer to what we are seeing.

”Now”?? Cuba’s had that for ~62 years.
The Cuban people may be ready to try freedom instead. We’ll see.

No, Cuba has NOT had Social Democracy. Not ever. Cuba has had socialism/communism, which is a very different concept.

Social Democracy is democratic government and a free market capitalist economy with a safety net. That's basically western Europe.

Socialism/communism is authoritarian government with massive redistribution of income and wealth under government control of the economy. That's what USA democrats want.

Correction: Socialism has little to do with redistribution.

Socialism grants politicians control of the corporations that run your daily life.

And not just utilities like the power company and the cell phone company. In the UK (hardly the most socialist country) in the 70s, the airlines, the airports, the airplane manufacturer, the hotels, the gas company, and British Petroleum (aka BP) were all run by CEOs who were hired & fired by Parliament. Also companies like British Sugar, the seaports, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, British Steel, the legal bookies, the railroads, and tons of other companies.

The sin of socialism is that CEOs are unrestrained by failure. They are frequently hired/fired more for their political preferences rather than their business acumen.

Back to the OP: this is great news! If Cuba has their own problems, it might allow Venezuela's people to finally take their destiny into their own hands.

Yet we’ve pegged capitalism as the problem a few weeks in. These people are clowns, not deserving of any more a lenient system than that which has rewarded us, enriched us, adorned us much more then that which has been done of a free and liberated people.

But how do they get that control? Does some unicorn just fart it into their laps? No, they take control from the rightful owners, by force if necessary. That's why socialist/communist governments need secret police. And it starts with redistribution schemes.

After scrolling through these pages I noticed something that was quite odd. Where are all the Liberal Democratic Socialist Regressives that spew their propaganda on a daily basis. Where is Mr Horses azz, RWT, DeMensa, Tigercity, Danforth, or Swag? and I'm sure I missed some others. This is what you and the Big Tech Elites would like to reduce us to. Wouldn't you love to live in the squalor these people live in everyday? Bernie Sanders this is your Utopia peeled back like an onion for all to see. Good news for all you cowards is something that Winston Churchill said years ago. Your best argument against Democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average man on the street about politics. They actually may buy into your filth. Take a good look at Cuba. This is what your ideology represents.

Democrats Start to Panic After They Realize They've Screwed up in Florida

Quote:Protests in Cuba against the communist regime and the decades of oppression it has produced have provided a test of will in Florida. While Republicans, both in the state and nationally, are always outspoken against the Cuban government and understand the reasons the people there are fed up, Democrats have attempted to straddle a line that can’t be straddled.

Tepid denouncements that refuse to name communism as the problem and distract to other issues do not play well in a state like Florida. We saw the White House try to make the unrest about COVID vaccines, which is not only ludicrous but an obvious attempt to bolster their own flailing messaging on the pandemic. Meanwhile, local other Democrats appropriated the justified protests against a dictatorship in Cuba in order to whine about anti-rioting laws in Florida.

As those on the left used to love to say until Republicans started pointing it out to the cries of racism, demographics is destiny, and in this case, the demographics of Florida hate lukewarm cowardice when it comes to the plight of the Cuban people.

That has Democrats panicking, realizing they’ve screwed up.

The problem is that they’ve already mishandled it. Democrats can’t take back their initial reactions. They can’t take back the ridiculous comparisons to not being able to burn down Target stores in Miami. They certainly can’t take back their years of fluffing the Cuban regime and attempting to normalize it, from Barack Obama going down there to watch baseball to Joe Biden pretending the only problem is the embargo.

This isn’t California we are talking about in regards to voter dynamics. The Latino populations in Florida are shifting heavily right-ward, with Democrats seeing shocking vote share losses in even normally dark blue areas like Miami-Dade County. Things are changing, and while national Democrats try to appease far-left ideologues in New York, they are ceding one of the most important battleground states before the fight even really gets started.

Democrats have a communism problem, whether we are talking about Cuba or their knee-bending toward China. While their most radical members claim it just hasn’t been done right yet, their more seasoned ones are desperately trying to find a middle ground that doesn’t exist. The result is predictable.

The Democrat coalition is not sustainable. They’ve previously cobbled together various identity groups, many of which have ideological positions in opposition with each other. That house of cards is coming down, and Florida is just the first example of what I think will be a wider collapse by 2022.

And, still nothing but crickets from the Liberal Democratic Socialist Regressives. Defend your ideology as it on full display in Cuba. Look at how great Gun Control works. Look at how well these everyday Cubans live.

If I were you I'd keep my pie hole closed as well. Full well knowing you and your ideology has been exposed for what it is. The equal sharing of poverty and misery while the Elites live like royalty. You definitely have earned the title progressive filth. My only wish for all of you is that you actually had to live for ten years with no way out and enjoy all the garbage that spews from your mouths daily.

That might be how it starts, but it's not how the system is defined.

You can have redistribution without socialism. For example, the USA actually has more redistribution in our tax code than most socialist countries. Even liberal sources agree that the USA has one of the most progressive tax systems in the world (The Atlantic, Washington Post, Daily Beast)

The top 10% pay a bigger share of the government budget in the USA than in other developed countries:

The bottom 24% pay zero or get a refund (and that's including social security taxes - without SS, it's 43%). While those people still pay regressive sales taxes, the sales tax rate is MUCH lower in the USA than anywhere else in the West (the average sales tax is 21% in Europe and 16% in South America).

And the USA used to be even more blatantly redistributive: From 1936 to the 1981 Reagan tax cuts, the top income tax rate was always above 70%.

As for spending, a huge portion of the federal budget is spent on direct wealth transfers. 70% of US federal spending is direct payments to individuals. Some of that is not wealth transfers (like veterans healthcare and farm aid), but much of it is. 51% of the federal budget is spent on wealth transfers.
