Mass protests break out in 5 cities in Cuba over the poor socialize medical system
Damn shame Cuba isn't a US state. My dad said Cuba had the most beautiful water he had ever seen. He was stationed on the bow of the Tweedy with the task of shooting the mines out of the water during the missile crisis in Guantanomo Bay. He said he could see marlin as big as a car swimming under the ship. I had this pic of the ship anchored in the Bay framed for him a few years back for Father's Day. My guess he was at chow at the time of this shot. Oh well pic function isn't working.

Cubans' Desire for Freedom Confuses American Commies

Quote:While growing up during the Cold War I was always mystified by the fact that American leftists were so quick to sympathize with the Soviet system. Not the Soviet people, the Soviet system. It was odd to me even when I was a kid. My dad’s side of the family has a lot of relatives in Poland and my grandparents kept in touch with most of them. They’d also visit Poland once in a while. I heard stories about what was really going on behind the Iron Curtain, and I didn’t get why American Democrats were so clueless about what was happening.

It would appear that little has changed since then.

In case you missed it, there was a little unrest down in the commie hellhole Cuba over the weekend. Some of the good citizens seem to have grown weary of all that communism supposedly does for the people living under it:

Quote:There’s something to celebrate, right?

Bryan wrote a post about a horrible hot-take that the Castro-loving kids over at The New York Times had:
The New York Times’ social media clearly did not enjoy the sight of Cubans demanding their freedom. It framed a protest for freedom as “anti-government.”

Bless their hearts. They’re not really wrong, you know. A lot of us freedom lovers aren’t big fans of the government, but we know that isn’t how the Times intended it. How dare the peasantry question their overlords and demand freedom?!?!?

Our sister site Twitchy had a post that said the Times and Twitter were battling it out for the worst take on the protests. Twitter may have “won” that battle:

Quote:Two major players in American media are befuddled by people demanding freedom from tyranny. These are the same people who believe that they should be the arbiters of what is and is not real news—just in case you were still wondering why things are so screwed up in this country right now.

Twitter may be new to the game but the Times is loaded with veteran commie apologists.

Quote:They seemed rather proud of him defying the United States, You can see why demands for freedom might rub them the wrong way.

Commies are bad and anyone who finds it difficult to say so has problems, is un-American, and has probably read too much Howard Zinn. They also can’t be trusted as sources for anything.

Like information leading up to an election.

Cuban Americans fire back after top State Dept. official claims Cuba protests related to COVID

Quote:The Biden administration was raked over the coals Sunday after a top State Department official claimed historic protests in Cuba were related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the overwhelming evidence pointing to freedom as the motive behind the demonstrations, Julie Chung, acting assistant secretary for U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, claimed that — actually — Cubans are angry about COVID and medicine shortages.

"Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly to express concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages. We commend the numerous efforts of the Cuban people mobilizing donations to help neighbors in need," Chung tweeted.

Watching any video from Sunday's demonstrations, of course, quickly dispelled the claim. The Cuban people are heavily oppressed by Cuba's communist regime, which has resulted in generations of impoverished living.

In fact, videos showed mass crowds Cuban demonstrators shouting "libertad" and "patria y vida" (homeland and life, opposite of the regime's "patria o muerte," which means "homeland or death") while waving American flags, an international symbol of freedom embraced by oppressed peoples outside America.

and the last thing they would be is Leftist. I've seen it from a distance on a cruise ship on our way to Roatan before while my dad was on the ship with us. He was below taking a nap and I went and got him to see. He has early stage dementia and he sat there and talked with me and my son for about an hour about what he went through and saw while there. Would love to go there under different circumstances.

Pro-Freedom Cuban Protesters Storm Communist Offices, Flip ‘National Revolutionary Police’ Cars: Reports

Quote:Videos that circulated on social media on Sunday showed pro-freedom Cuban protesters taking to the streets crying out for freedom from the oppressive communist dictatorship on the island.

The videos, which were promoted by pro-freedom politicians and media figures in the U.S., allegedly showed protesters storming a local communist party office, flipping communist police vehicles, and getting rowdy outside the Communist Party’s headquarters in Havana.

WATCH:

Cubans took to the street in rarely seen demonstrations to protest the impoverished conditions of the island, their lack of freedom under the far-left Marxist regime, and did so while chanting “Liberty” and “Freedom” and waving an American flag.

Despite this, Julie Chung, Acting Assistant Secretary for U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, said that the protests were centered around the coronavirus pandemic.

“Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly to express concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages,” Chung tweeted. “We commend the numerous efforts of the Cuban people mobilizing donations to help neighbors in need.”

The remarks from the Biden administration garnered intense backlash online from critics who noted that the protesters were protesting the communist government.

It wasn’t long before the communist government began cracking down on the protesters, which it sees as a threat to its very existence.

The Washington Post reported:

José Miguel Vivanco, director of Human Rights Watch’s Americas division, said his group had received reports that at least 20 people had been arrested. He added that the organization had received reports of violence being used by Cuban forces, a claim echoed by social media users sharing videos of wounded protesters.

“This is pretty massive,” Vivanco said. “My sense is that this is a combination of social unrest based on a lack of freedoms, and covid, and economic conditions. The lack of access to electricity. The blackouts. … People are screaming for freedom.”

“As demonstrators sought to broadcast the protest live with their cellphones through social media, Cuba’s authorities cut internet service on multiple occasions on Sunday,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Kentik, a U.S.-based network monitoring company, reported countrywide internet outages.”

The New York Times reported that numerous videos that were posted online that showed the protests had “suddenly disappeared.” “The people are dying of hunger!” one woman shouted during a protest highlighted by The Times, “Our children are dying of hunger!” Other chants included “We want freedom” and “We want vaccines.”

America’s Far-Left Silent As Cubans Cry Out For Freedom From Communist Dictatorship

Quote:Top far-left figures in American politics were silent on Sunday as Cubans took to the streets crying out for freedom from the nation’s communist dictatorship.

Videos circulated on social media of Cubans marching in the streets, protesting the impoverished conditions of the island and their lack of freedom under the far-left communist regime. They did so while chanting “Liberty” and “Freedom” and waving an American flag. The communist dictatorship later started cracking down on the protests, allegedly inflicting violence on the unarmed protesters and cutting off internet access.

Notable far-left figures that did not weigh in on the matter by the time this report was filed included Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who was described in 2016 by Tom Perez, then-Chairman of the Democrat Party, as the “future” of the Democrat Party.

Sanders has repeatedly praised murderous communist dictators and regimes, including Cuba, as highlighted by Sanders’ political opposition:

Sanders vacationed in Cuba and has praised the Cuban revolution saying he was excited to watch Dictator Fidel Castro “rising up against the ugly rich people.” Sen. Sanders praised Communist Cuba’s “value system” while he was mayor of Burlington and even visited Cuba to meet with the dictator in 1989.

Sanders “mocked” reports of human rights abuses in Cuba, claiming that the reports of torture and executions were manufactured by Republicans. The Castro regime’s human right abuses are extensive and have been widely reported, including the sentencing of homosexuals and critics to forced labor camps , and forcing more than a million Cubans to risk drowning as they fled the country.

Ocasio-Cortez endorsed Sanders for president in 2020 when he ran as a Democrat for the second time and subsequently lost again. While on the campaign trail, AOC displayed a cultish-like obsession for Sanders, saying she didn’t “recognize [her] inherent value as a human being” until she “heard of” Sanders.

‘Where’s President Biden?’: Officials Sound Alarm As ‘Socialist Shock Troops’ Deployed On Cuban Protesters

Quote:Top U.S. officials called out Democrat President Joe Biden on Sunday over his lack of public comment as armed Cuban government forces deployed to stop pro-freedom protesters on the island.

The remarks come as Cubans took to the street in rarely seen demonstrations to protest the impoverished conditions of the communist island, their lack of freedom under the communist regime, and did so while chanting “Liberty” and “Freedom” and waving an American flag.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) called out the administration in a tweet, writing: “Where’s President Biden? Where’s Vice President Kamala Harris? The Cuban people need to know the United States stands firmly on the side of freedom and democracy in #Cuba.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) tweeted: “The people of #Cuba bravely take to the streets against 62 years of socialist tyranny 12 hours later President @joebiden @POTUS has yet to say a word about it.”

Rubio tweeted out a video showing “heavily armed socialist shock troops” descending on the area, noting that Cubans do not have weapons to defend themselves.

At the time that this report was filed, Biden had yet to say a word about the situation, did not respond to questions from the press, did not put out a statement, and did not tweet about it. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed during an MSNBC interview on Sunday night that the administration does not have a “beef” with “the Cuban people” and that they should have access to the most basic necessities like water.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) wrote on Twitter: “The Biden administration should quickly denounce any detention or violence toward peaceful protestors in Cuba. America & every freedom-loving nation must fully support the brave Cuban people in their calls for liberty & human dignity. The world is watching.”

“The Castro regime has given orders to repress the peaceful protests, but let me be very clear: the United States will not tolerate the Cuban military firing upon its people,” Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar wrote on Twitter. “I call on the Biden Administration to stand against the tyranny and oppression of the Castro Regime and to respond with whatever means necessary to protect the brave people of Cuba.”

‘We Are Willing To Do Anything’: Cuba’s President Demands Cubans Defend The Revolution From Pro-Democracy Protesters

Quote:Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel is calling on the Communist regime’s supporters to “defend[] the revolution” against pro-democracy protesters who marched on government buildings Sunday, and warning demonstrators that the Cuban government is “willing to do anything” to stay in power.

Journalists covering the scene in Cuba, which descended into chaos Sunday, reported that Cuba’s President is “setting the stage for civil war,” as demonstrations rage on.

“In an impromptu televised address later in the afternoon, Díaz-Canel blamed the protests on U.S. efforts to tighten the embargo, with the alleged intention to ‘provoke a social uprising’ that would justify a military intervention,” the Miami-Herald reported.

“The order to fight has been given – into the street, revolutionaries!” Diaz-Canal reportedly told Cubans. “We are calling on all the revolutionaries in the country, all the Communists, to hit the streets wherever there is an effort to produce these provocations.”

“We are not going to hand over the sovereignty or the independence of the people,” Diaz said, per the Miami Herald. “There are many revolutionaries in this country who are willing to give our lives, we are willing to do anything, and we will be in the streets fighting.”

On Monday, Diaz-Canel again addressed the demonstrations in a speech, according to The Washington Post, though the outlet added that the President’s tone was “less vulgar than the day before.” In that address, Diaz-Canel denounced the protesters as “vulgar criminals” and “decried ‘those who seek to discredit the revolution and fracture the unity of our country.'”

As the Daily Wire reported on Sunday, Cuba erupted in some of the largest pro-democracy protests seen in decades, demanding a solution to the “impoverished conditions of the island, their lack of freedom under the far-left Marxist regime.” They stormed government buildings “while chanting ‘Liberty’ and ‘Freedom’ and waving an American flag.”

Diaz-Canel has been a primary target of the protests that began on Sunday, according to the Miami Herald. Video, posted to social media on Sunday, showed “hundreds of protesters calling for freedom and shouting, ‘Down with the dictatorship’ and ‘Down with Díaz-Canel,’ a reference to Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel. The protesters also demanded medicine, COVID vaccines, and ‘the end of hunger.’ A crowd is seen pushing a police car and shouting ‘the dictators just arrived,’ in reference to the police. Later, one protester is heard saying, ‘This is a peaceful demonstration.'”

The protests extended outside Havana, as well, in the “Artemisa province near Havana” video, posted to Facebook, shows Cubans “protesting against the government and chanting ‘Down with Diaz-Canel’ and ‘Patria y Vida.’ In several moments the crowd used strong language to refer to Díaz-Canel, whose popularity is sharply falling as life on the island deteriorates,” the Miami Herald continued.

Protesters across Cuba said that they are “not afraid” of retribution from Castro’s regime.

The Biden administration has been largely quiet about the protests, issuing several lukewarm statements of support. White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan was the latest to weigh in, noting on Twitter that the “U.S. supports freedom of expression and assembly across Cuba,” and warning that the Biden administration will “strongly condemn any violence or targeting of peaceful protesters who are exercising their universal rights.”

Cuban Government Uses Chinese Tech Systems To Block Internet Access

Quote:The Cuban government is relying upon Chinese-made technology to block internet access during the nation’s largest ant-communism protest in decades.

Yesterday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) confirmed on social media that the Cuban government uses a system made, sold, and installed by China to “control and block access to the internet.”

The lawmaker — who is of Cuban descent — earlier warned that the regime would “block internet & cell phone service soon to prevent videos about what is happening to get out to the world.”

For several years, human rights groups have confirmed reports that Chinese technology enables censorship on the island.

As Newsweek explained:

A report by the Institute For War & Peace Reporting released last December noted that Etecsa, the sole company in Cuba that provides internet access, has three primary technology providers that are all Chinese: Huawei, TP-Link, and ZTE.

Another report in 2017 by the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), a global internet censorship watchdog, found traces of Chinese codes in both the surface and the interfaces used for wi-fi access portals in Cuba.

“Etesca’s login portal — through which Cubans access the internet — appears to have been written by Chinese developers, since its source code contains comments written in Chinese. This indicates that Etesca likely hired Chinese developers to implement the portal,” the Open Observatory of Network Interference said in their report.

The Institute For War & Peace Reporting found that the Cuban government blocked Change.org — a site used to sign petitions — in 2019 during a “constitutional referendum when activists campaigning for a ban on ideological discrimination in universities used the platform to make their voices heard.” In May 2020, the regime blocked Avaaz.org, a similar platform by which activists collected signatures to “repeal Decree-Law 370 that sanctions citizens over social media content.”

In November 2020, the government censored YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp for an entire weekend while an anti-government artist collective held a protest.

Biden Calls On Cuban Dictators To ‘Hear Their People And Serve Their Needs’

Quote:President Joe Biden issued a statement on the pro-democracy and anti-Communist protests in Cuba Monday morning, echoing earlier administration statements on the matter, and calling for the dictatorial Cuban regime to “hear their people” and “serve their needs” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement begins by expressing solidarity with “the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime.”

“The Cuban people are bravely asserting fundamental and universal rights,” Biden continued. “Those rights, including the right of peaceful protest and the right to freely determine their own future, must be respected.”

“The United States calls on the Cuban regime to hear their people and serve their needs at this vital moment rather than enriching themselves,” the president concluded.

The latter part of the statement echoes other Biden administration comments on the matter, including a comment from Julie Chung, the Acting Assistant Secretary for U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, who tweeted Sunday, “Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly to express concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages. We commend the numerous efforts of the Cuban people mobilizing donations to help neighbors in need.”

As the Daily Wire reported earlier Monday, that statement drew swift criticism from Republican legislators like Rep. Dan Crenshaw (TX), who pointed out that the Cubans protest in the streets of Havana were not demanding vaccines, they were demanding “LIBERTAD.”

“Stop playing cover for communists and support the Cuban people. My god. Why is that so hard for you,” Crenshaw tweeted at Chung. “No they’re chanting LIBERTAD,” he added, in reference to videos of the protests posted to social media.

Cuban officials, in statements made Sunday, blamed the unrest on the United States government, which they claim is fomenting anti-Communist sentiment among Cubans.

Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel “blamed the unrest on old Cold War foe the United States … in a televised speech on Sunday afternoon. Diaz-Canel said many protesters were sincere but manipulated by U.S.-orchestrated social media campaigns and ‘mercenaries’ on the ground and warned that further ‘provocations’ would not be tolerated, calling on supporters to confront ‘provocations,'” according to Reuters.

The U.S. responded to Diaz-Canel’s threats in a lukewarm statement made Monday, with national security advisor Jake Sullivan noting on Twitter that the “U.S. supports freedom of expression and assembly across Cuba,” and warning that the Biden administration will “strongly condemn any violence or targeting of peaceful protesters who are exercising their universal rights.”

It is not clear whether Biden’s Monday statement suggests the United States will take any further action on the Cuban protests or in support of the Cuban dissidents in their largest show of solidarity in decades. As Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro noted on Twitter Monday, Cuba’s health and food failures are “an outgrowth” of the country’s authoritarian regime. The two issues are inextricably linked.

Cuba: Thousands Nationwide Take Streets Against Communism

Quote:Thousands of Cubans in at least 16 cities took the streets peacefully on Sunday to demand an end to the 62-year-old communist regime, chanting “freedom,” wearing American flags, and in many cases facing extreme police repression.

Videos from throughout the island show both plain-clothed and uniformed state security officers attacking peaceful protesters. In Havana, bystanders recorded the sound of heavy gunfire and public beatings of dissidents. Miguel Díaz-Canel, the “president” appointed by Raúl Castro to be the face of the still-ruling Castro Communist Party, called for street “combat” against anyone demanding an end to the regime in a speech on Sunday.

The protests appeared to begin in the town of San Antonio de los Baños, western Cuba, on Sunday morning. Local independent outlets documented chants of “down with communism!”, “they [the regime] must leave,” and “**** Díaz-Canel!”, among other anti-government statements. Locals livestreamed the protest on Facebook, triggering an outpouring into the streets of at least 16 major cities including both Havana and Santiago de Cuba, on opposite ends of the island.

The geographically widespread nature of the protests and the secrecy of the Communist Party on the island has made it virtually impossible to estimate exactly how many Cubans took the streets on Sunday. Police have not released any arrest totals or injury statistics, but some local outlets estimate that hundreds were arrested, taken into police stations but not formally charged or appearing in any law enforcement documentation. Among the arrested were several Cuban journalists not participating but reporting on the protests, according to the dissident news service Cubanet. Also arrested on Sunday, though rapidly released, was Yomil Hidalgo, one of Cuba’s most popular dance music artists.

The American flag, popularized as a protest symbol in Cuba by dissident Daniel Llorente, made multiple appearances among Cubans on Sunday. Video authenticated by the Miami broadcaster AméricaTeve showed a group of Cubans carrying an American flag through the streets of Havana on Sunday while chanting “freedom!” Videos taken by Cubans on social media and distributed through other Latin American news organizations also show the presence of the U.S. flag.

In Mayabeque, a Havana suburb, a crowd of hundreds congregated in front of an image of the Virgin Mary to pray for an end to the communist regime. At least one participant can be seen wearing an American flag shirt while praying.

Pre-Castro Cuba was a majority Catholic nation. Under communism, the regime has outlawed most religious practices it cannot control and regularly persecutes Christians who defy its authority. Fidel Castro sent non-Catholic Christians – primarily Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh-Day Adventists – to labor camps alongside suspected LGBT people, writers and critics, and other “undesirables” in the 1960s.

Reports of the beating and arrest of at least one Catholic priest, Father Castor José Álvarez Devesa, surfaced on Sunday. Álvarez reportedly disappeared in Camagüey, one of the most active protest centers, and resurfaced under the custody of the Communist Party’s secret police.

Camagüey, in the central rural heartland of the island, experienced some of the most violent communist repression on Sunday. Local journalists and citizens recorded police publicly beating protesters. Citizens fought back with rocks – legal weapon ownership in communist Cuba does not exist – in at least one occasion successfully pushing back a police car to protect dissidents in one neighborhood. Citizens appear to begin throwing rocks after police open fire on unarmed, peaceful civilians, hitting at least one man.

An extremely dramatic video of Cuban citizens overturning a police car and standing on it in triumph also surfaced on Sunday. Sources differ on where it was taken, but it appears to be in either Havana or Cárdenas, a city about 100 miles east of the capital.

Other reports indicated heavy gunfire from police at peaceful protesters in Havana. As Havana is one of Cuba’s most densely populated urban centers, opening fire on a tightly packed crowd would likely result in significant injuries, but Cuban authorities have not issued any reports on the damage police caused at press time.

The gunfire was an apparent attempt to keep protesters out of the Plaza of the Revolution, the Spain-based Diario de Cuba reported. The Plaza is the crown jewel of communist architecture in Havana, featuring Soviet-style metal portraits of Fidel Castro, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, and other mass murderers. Diario de Cuba, citing a reporter on the ground, stated that police surrounded the Plaza and deployed a communist mob to wave photos of Fidel Castro. Police carrying baseball bats offered protection to the state-sponsored mob. Photos of the pro-Castro mob in Havana appeared in Granma, the official newspaper of the Communist Party, late Sunday appear to confirm those reports.

Díaz-Canel appeared on television Sunday to call all communists to violently attack any protesters, effectively urging civil war.

“We are willing to give our lives. They will have to pass over our corpses if they want to confront the Revolution,” Díaz-Canel warned. “We are willing to do anything.”

“We are convening all revolutionary communists to go out to the streets where these provocations are happening and confront them with firmness,” he commanded. “The order of combat is issued, revolutionaries to the streets.”

The funniest thing about this is the idiot Dems have spent 2 decades oozing over how great the Cuban socialized medicine is, and now they're saying just the opposite. Obamacare anyone?

When do people start realizing every word coming from the Left's mouth is a lie?

Denounce any detention or violence? Schiff, we better start here in the US. As we've found out where are the protestors that stormed the capitol. They're being treated like Socialist oppressive governments do to their people. We had better start fighting for OUR rights as well as for the Cuban people. I just wonder when the population in our country gets fed up with the dictatorial oppression and protest enmasse?

https://rumble.com/vjr4nt-jen-psaki-admi...ga&mrefc=2

We, of course, are monitoring closely, you saw the statement the president — we put out in the president’s name this morning, in his voice of course, conveying his support for the people of Cuba,” Psaki said.

The problem is that statement from “Joe Biden” was a vaguely worded and misleading statement that veiled what the Cuban people are revolting against.

The full statement says: “We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime. The Cuban people are bravely asserting fundamental and universal rights. Those rights, including the right of peaceful protest and the right to freely determine their own future, must be respected. The United States calls on the Cuban regime to hear their people and serve their needs at this vital moment rather than enriching themselves.”

This carefully crafted response is missing two words: Socialism or Communism. This inherently “authoritarian” economic system is responsible for the economic hardship, suffering, and repression of the Cuban people.

It compounds the problematic statement from a State Department official on Sunday.

“Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly to express concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages,” Julie Chung, the Acting Assistant Secretary for U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, tweeted. “We commend the numerous efforts of the Cuban people mobilizing donations to help neighbors in need.”

Whether it was the situation in Honduras in 2009, Iran’s Green Revolution that same year, or the real reason for the attack on an American embassy in Benghazi, Libya in 2012, the Democratic Party has a history of obscuring the truth of foreign developments in a way that benefits socialists and other tyrants. The Biden administration is really turning out to be “Obama’s third term.”

That poor Psaki. Ol' gal has to go out there every day and be the mouthpiece for the incompetent admin headed up a brain dead retard and a slut. Bless her heart, she tries to tell everyone its chicken salad and not chicken sh!t, but anyone with just a little common sense can see the difference.

Dems really need this pandemic to flare back up. That's the only conclusion to be made from all this pushing on it they're making. Where's the death counter on the MSM friends' screen 24/7 that disappeared on Inauguration Day? Maybe that will help create enough fear in people to retreat back into their homes and pray for Government to save them?

Trump’s New Statement on Cuba Uprising Could Not Be More Different Than Biden’s

Quote:Donald Trump issue a statement of support for the Cuban people, while blasting Biden for failing to stand up to the Communist regime.

“Big demonstrations are breaking out in Cuba and Miami in protest of the Communist Cuban Government (although, today there are zero protesters in Cuba—you know what that means!),” Trump stated.

“Don’t forget that Biden and the Democrats campaigned on reversing my very tough stance on Cuba,” he continued. “Remember when Obama attended baseball games with Castros while they imprisoned, beat, and killed the Cuban people.”

“I stand with the Cuban people 100% in their fight for freedom,” the statement went on. “The Government must let them speak and be free!”

“Joe Biden MUST stand up to the Communist regime or—history will remember,” Trump added. “The Cuban people deserve freedom and human rights! THEY ARE NOT AFRAID!”

The 45th president’s statement stands in sharp contrast with the Biden statement that was released on Monday.

“We stand with the Cuban people as they bravely assert their fundamental and universal rights, and as they all call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering,” the Twitter statement says.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki admitted in a press conference it was not even personally issued by Biden.

“We, of course, are monitoring closely, you saw the statement the president — we put out in the president’s name this morning, in his voice of course, conveying his support for the people of Cuba,” Psaki said.

One is only left to wonder how Donald Trump would have handled the Cuba uprising differently if he were still in the White House. His full-throated condemnation of communism couldn’t be more different than Joe Biden’s. It appears that the Democrats are once again content to let a people who have been oppressed by communists for decades get hung out to dry.

CNN Guest Actually Blames COVID and Trump for Cuba Uprising — Immediately Gets a Reality Check

Quote:A New York University professor who is a scholar of Cuban history appeared on CNN to give her narrative about why the Cuban people are rising up against its oppressive government. It didn’t take long for the Biden administration itself to dispute her dishonest pro-socialist narrative.

“Now there are a lot of Americans who will watch this and will think this came out of nowhere. And I’m — just get your important perspective on this. How much of this do you think has to do with the pandemic and the impact that the virus has had — the pandemic has had?” Kate Bolduan asked.

“There is no question that the pandemic has made everything much worse. I think the combination of the pandemic and the tightening of the embargo under — under Trump has made, you know, an always difficult economic situation in Cuba much worse,” Ferrer said.

“People have lost access to remittances from their family because of new American restrictions, the pandemic has meant that travel has been cut off, so people can’t get visits from family and friends, bringing supplies and goods, and the tourist sector has dried up, so people who had started small businesses catering to tourists have lost their businesses,” she continued.

“So there is no question that — that the pandemic has exacerbated problems that were already there,” Ferrer went on. “You know, Cuba suffered greatly when the — when the Soviet Union collapsed and that initiated a period in Cuba called a Special Period in which there were some protests, somewhat similar to this.”

“But, again, those were smaller, mostly in Havana, you didn’t have social media to amplify them and to encourage people across other parts of the island,” she continued. “But in many ways the country never fully recovered from that. And you know, now in 2021 it’s a very different world than 1994. People are that much more tired of frustration.”

“Most Cubans were born or not most, I would say about a third of the Cuban population was born after the collapse of the Soviet Union,” she said. “So they have — they have no experience, and no memory of a revolution, not in economic crisis. And so I think — I think it’s — it’s a cumulative thing. It’s the pandemic, it’s the [indecipherable] the embargo on top of an already difficult reality.”

Firstly, the argument that the Soviet Union providing aid to the Cuban people to keep it out of “economic crisis” is a lie. Thousands of Cuban refugees fled from the communist island due in no small part to poverty and economic repression.

The professor’s narrative is also one that is being amplified throughout the American media. It happens to be shared by the Democratic Socialists of America’s International Committee:

The Biden administration itself has refuted this dishonest argument. Secretary of State Tony Blinken issued a statement on Monday putting this argument to bed.

“I think it would be a grievous mistake for the Cuban regime to interpret what is happening in dozens of towns and cities across the island as the result or product of anything the United States has done,” Blinken said. “It would be a grievous mistake because it would show that they simply are not hearing the voices and will of the Cuban people. People deeply, deeply, deeply tired of the repression that has gone on for far too long, tired of the mismanagement of the Cuban economy, tired of the lack of adequate food and, of course, an adequate response to the Covid pandemic. That is what we are hearing and seeing in Cuba. And that is a reflection of the Cuban people, not of the United States or any other outside actor.”

Blinken’s statement, which helpfully corrects the record against false accusations that the Cuban economy is the fault and responsibility of the United States, omits two words: Socialism or communism.
