Don't understand the problem here. Brownell and Calipari have come back to speak.

I don't think anyone has a problem, just Hoops being Hoops.

I don't think any of them left on the terms KK did. But, that seems to have been mended. I don't have a problem with it. But, let's not compare to BB and Cal, they have actual won at the major level, KK has not

Cal never coached here. He played at UNCW then transferred away. Huge difference there. Regardless of how Keatts left and all the debatable details surrounding that, he was successful as a HC at UNCW.

Furthermore, it shows there aren't the hard feelings from UNCW too many people tried to portray here. Siddle was hired and Keatts is back hosting. Who wouldn't want that? If we want to have a strong program here, we need to embrace those who were successful. For all the hard feelings Brownell had when he left as a coach, he's come back as well.

I dont post often, in fact its been a long time, I said then. And I will repeat...there were NO terms at least negative ones that KK left UNCW under therefore there was nothing that needed mending. As far as winning at the major level....KK record is just as good if not better than BB.Of course neither are in the same league as Cal as far as winning goes.

Not what I was told, by a reliable source, but even reliable sources can be mistaken. Who knows. But I have to think if the relationship was great when Keatts left, Siddle would have at least gotten an interview at the time.

Either way, I'm glad that the relationship is in a positive state. The best thing we can hope for moving forward is a coaching tree that provides the program with some continuity. This starting completely from scratch every 3-4 years stuff, with a new system/style, is for the birds.

Lol I’ll take my sources, several of them and good ones.. regardless, it’s better now, we hired his boy. Had we done that to begin with, what happened then likely wouldn’t have.
Cg fully aware of Cal’s history. Just pointing out that all the other coaches to come here last 5 years to speak have had success at the major level, KK hasn’t.

If Siddle hadn't signed on with Keatts, he'd have been our coach, not McGrath. I also think the lesson has been learned about switching styles. We could have gone any direction and went to Siddle. We're going to be a run/defend/win basketball program going forward.

The most important thing is raising money for the program, hopefully this will accomplish that.

If Siddle hadn’t signed on with Keatts he’d have been our coach?

I’m curious if that’s your opinion or is otherwise? Like SN08, he wasn’t even given an interview. That’s a bold statement considering.

Yeah, considering he signed on with KK only after he DIDN'T get the interview. I think we all agree changing styles wasn't a good move, that's not even debatable proof is in the pudding on that one.

Not just my opinon. Until Mcgrath was hired opportunities still existed, but Siddle had already been hired at NCSU.

NC state announced Siddle March 28 2017
https://gopack.com/news/2017/3/28/mens-b...coach.aspx

UNCW interviewed McGrath around March 28 2017
https://www.wect.com/story/35015637/uncs...-position/

UNCW announced McGrath April 3 2017
https://www.wect.com/story/35055661/uncw...h-mcgrath/

This leads me to believe that Siddle didn't want to go through the interview process for whatever reason...Keatts may have given Siddle an ultimatum about joining him or trying for the UNCW job. It makes ZERO sense that UNCW would refuse to interview the top referral of the winningest coach they had in a decade

May have decided he wasn't quite ready for the top job. And the pay at NCSU was pretty much what he would have made at UNCW.

I've said very few things on here, but what I've said has eventually come to fruition. That without tooting my horn about my sources.Take from that what you'd like.. I'm still baffled however about you saying everyone that has spoken in the last 5 years has had success at the major (P5) level and KK hasn’t.Obviously that's the case with Cal and Roy...But KK has had success at the major level on par or better than BB and Seth Greenburg in my opinion. If you think different I understand, but could you give me some reasoning as to why you believe that? BB has a .573 win percentage in 11 years at Clemson, Greenberg had .580 in 9 years at Va Tech.KK in his 4 years in Raleigh has amassed a .627 winning percentage. None of those 3 have had any successes in the NCAA tournament. I understand you don't like him on a personal level, but let's be honest in evaluating against others at least.

This is a very good synopsis. Can't 100% agree he decided he wasn't ready, but think it was more like screw it, I can make the same money for a few years and not have ALL the headaches as a HC, get P5 assistant on my resume and most likely get another shot at the position in a few years....Several of us knew CB wasn't the answer here from day one.
