Given a lack of pass rushers, we need really strong DB's who can hang in there and this dude's video looks the part. There are guys who wait for contact and those that seek it and he seems the latter. LOVE this guy in our secondary and I'd be shocked if he's not a day 1 starter. These guys look like difference makers in the MAC and I love seeing it.

I wonder if we could get these types of transfers with high pedigrees before the new performance center and the success CC has had. Likely not. Hoping this is more to come. I feel like these are the guys you need to add in to an already good roster to get you to the 8-9 win season and not settle for 6 wins.

CC is doing well with the transfer portal. Filling needs with experienced talent. Kind of like NFL free agency.

it says something positive about about the program that he's able to draw these kids in. They're buying what he's selling. You don't get players like these transferring in if youre going to lose 9 games.

Agree.

I love getting P5 players who are significant contributors for P5 programs. One could argue that other than Q we are getting better new transfers than the transfers we lost.

And as I indicated in another post, CC and staff are doing very well in the Chicago area.

Someone noted, quite correctly, that P.J. did very well in Chicago when he was at WMU. P.J. had a geographic advantage of being reasonably close to CHI.

I live in NoVa and kind of watched part of the JMU/SHSU game.

Was Hamilton forced to split time with another very, very good RB by the name of:

https://www.espn.com/college-football/pl...gyei-obese

Percy had over 1,200 yards in 2019!! And this was on 259 carries. How does Hamilton get any carries???

Did Hamilton think it was time to move on to be the top dog?

Hamilton is a great back. More of a speed guy than a b/t the tackles runner. Previous coaching staff called him their “astronaut” because he does very well in open space.

He split carries with another stud returning RB at JMU who honestly fits our scheme better. We also have 3-4 underclass men that have had 100+ yd games in their careers, so I don’t blame him for looking for more carries elsewhere.

First class leader and good character guy. We’ll miss him at JMU but wish him well at EMU.

Thanks!! BTW, I'm a guy who has the upmost respect for FCS FB. The better FCS teams would have no trouble competing with much of FBS.

We've played some FCS teams but we avoid the FCS powers...

RE: Unofficial 2021 Football Recruiting Thread
BTW, I'm going to repeat what I've posted before: CC was very smart to pocket a number of LOI for AFTER the Feb. signing day (and also picked up some released scholarships).

The talent available now is light years better than what we could have signed in Feb.

Instead of taking a high school, Plan B recruit (or JUCO), we are getting very experienced transfers who should be able to start for us.

This staff is really doing the homework on working the portal. CC has become 'like a kid in a candy shop.' 04-cheers 04-cheers

BTW, one transfer I wanted, Pointer (DT) from La-Monroe signed with Wake Forest. Thought he could help us for a few years, up to four (yes, played his 'freebie' and still has 4 left).

RE: Unofficial 2021 Football Recruiting Thread
Copying this from another recruiting thread about LOI signing period extension for 2020/21:

National Letter of Intent 2020-2021 Updates
On January 15, 2021, the NLI announced new signing dates for Division 1 football and basketball. Signing dates for both sports have been extended to August 1, 2021.

The Division 1 Basketball Regular Signing Period, originally scheduled between April 14-May 19, 2021 was extended until August 1, 2021
The Division 1 Football Regular Signing Period, originally scheduled between February 3-April 1, 2021 was also extended until August 1, 2021
The Regular Signing Period for all other D1/D2 sports has not changed, and ends on August 1

I believe 2020/21 recruits and 2021/22 recruits can start visiting campuses June 1. (BTW, on campus camps can be held starting June 1).

So if a player wants an official visit rather than a zoom call before signing a 2021/21 LOI, go for it.

P.S. If any recruits are reading this, EMU is beautiful in the summer. Lush green (of course!!) campus.

RE: Unofficial 2021 Football Recruiting Thread
Just added a 2021 JUCO DT. As EMU Steve has been saying, there is gold to be mined in the JUCO ranks as many are overlooked because of the glut of FBS transfers.

https://twitter.com/JUCOFFrenzy/status/1...80422?s=20

Looks like a 6' 280 lb. NT / DT from the state of Texas and played one (freebie) year at Blinn CC.

Listed as 4 to play 4.

Very fast sub 4.8 in 40 and strong look at his bench strength on his hudl Other offers were SEMO and Texas A&M Kingsville. Looks like he got lost in the shuffle.

Indeed. In any OTHER year, he sounds like a "Plan B" recruit, BUT in this year, a lot of "Plan A" recruits are still looking for a FBS home.

That said, I wonder what options EMU had with the transfer portal for DT? Were the options say a 1 or 2 year transfer VS. a 4-year man?

This is where the coaching staff's ability to scout and project is huge. There are enough options out there that selecting the right one might be golden. They need to be able to compare a P5 player, G5 player, FCS player, JUCO player and h.s. player. That takes real scouting abilities.

He wasn't on my lists of potential names. But yes CC and, staff are good at scouting.

The last play on the Trinity Valley game is interesting. He shows great quickness going there o the sideline making a tackle.

This would instantly put him among the strongest guys on the team, if not the strongest. If I recall correctly, there was a comment from CC not too long ago that they had 8 - 10 guys bench over 400. I don't recall hearing anyone over 500, but perhaps Sidy was there. It's also not all that uncommon for guys to come in and not live up to their huddl numbers (even in height/weight).

Yes. 4.78 time would make a NFL coach smile. Isn't that TE speed??
Wonder if the staff can verify the data???

More like 4.45-4.7.

I believe, Pitts, FL TE, kind of broke the mold with a 40 in under 5.0 (around 4.5 seconds).

T.J. Hockenson is a 4.7 guy. I doubt a DT can run with him.

If this DT is under 5.0 is has potential to be an impact FBS player.

Now I have too look up Aaron Donald's 40.

EDIT: "At the NFL Combine, Donald set the record for fastest 40-yard dash time for a defensive tackle with a 4.68."

So there could be some Huddl inflation going on here. I have to believe that a JUCO transfer with stats like those listed here would have received a lot of attention. I hope he comes in with that kind of speed and strength as he would be a potential immediate impact player on the Defense.
