She won newcomer of the year in CUSA this season.

She led the Owls in scoring (22.3 ppg), three-point percentage, field goals made per game, rebounds per game (10.9 reb), steals per game, and minutes played per game.

Intrigued about the dynamics of a player transferring to a school in the same conference.

Joy Campbell, Kay Clark and Joy Rouse. All guards. The first person is a transfer from UC Riverside, the second is JUCO transfer and the last is a high school recruit from Arkansas. Go to ODUWBB for full write-up. It is quite an overhaul!!

Correction! It is Alex Rouse and I believe we now have a fifteen player roster. I am excited about the team but that is a lot of mouths to feed. I am also excited that we now have two local players. I would imagine that we would be in the pre-season top three teams in the conference!

Having lost a major contributor in Victoria Morris, along with all the new faces we have coming in, very tempting to think the women may be regarded as "work in progress" and not be ranked within the top three, but I very much agree with you. As a matter of fact, they may not fall below the top two, but that's just me, a rabid fan. With the talent we have returning, coupled with transfer talents, e.g. Iggy, coming in, wouldn't surprise me to see CUSA recognizing it the same way and ranking ODU within the top two. May even be ranked preseason No. 1, who knows. Great days are coming!

Wow. I’m impressed with the players coming in. With the nucleus here, ODU should be favored for the top spot in the conference. It’s easy to get carried away early, but these signings ought to give ODU strengths they’ve lacked in the past couple of years — dependable depth, solid inside play, height, consistent long-range shooting. My hope is that everything works out because there are only 5 starters and one basketball. Sometimes it’s difficult for stars to take a secondary role when they’re accustomed to, well, being the star. Congrats to the coach and her staff. ODU is back.

Nice to see the news release. I think as a middle of pack last year, we're a work in progress. Our short bench killed us last year. We finished two games with just four players on the floor. Coach had the Lady Monarchs playing well at the end of the year in the CUSAT. Should be fun to watch this team's development.

Does any Lady Monarch fan know, if any of the freshmen (recruited last) are coming back this year? I am speaking of the ones that did not play, like the big girl from Germany.

The three freshmen, including Travis who was injured all year, transferred. “The big girl from Germany” did not return for her sophomore season. I have not heard if she plans to come back, but my assumption is that she will not.

And she was removed from the roster online as well

I am still feeling good about what the current coaching administration has accomplished and what the prospects are for the team next year. However, I also realized that that the coach and her team have to now try to project needs for 22-23 and target recruits for decision making for this November . That is a fast turn around made even more complicated by the fact that although they are seniors in 21-22 they still have a graduate year of eligibility due them. This combined with the transfer portal will make for a dynamic player environment over the next two years but I also think a great deal of positive results for the Lady Monarchs!

Natalie Diaz today received the Pulitzer Prize for her second volume of poetry. It is a prestigious award and honor and one I hope the WBB program publicizes to its recruits and uses to feature the cultural diversity and achievements of its alumna. I remember her fondly and enjoyed her game.

Not worth starting a new thread for this, but does anyone know why @ODUWBB is suspended from Twitter?

DMCA violations. Men’s basketball has the same suspension right now.

DMCA is the digital copyright protection law. It's handled in different ways on different platforms but basically those Twitter accounts potentially used copyrighted material without consent and their accounts were suspended for a certain amount of time.

It’s be nice, now that Covid restrictions have been eased, if the program would hold a get together d with the new members (and old ones too) so fans could get to know them. It looks like an exciting year and I hope ODU can reinvigorate the fan base. I was at every home game last year and it was a bit lonely in The Ted. It’ll be a while beforethe place is packed, but we should get off to a good start.

Happy Independence Day everybody and does anybody want to conjecture what the opening day lineup will be? Also with Rice and Middle Tennessee losing their stars who do you think will rival the Lady Monarchs for CUSA supremacy- Charlotte, Western Kentucky?

Assuming ODU comes together early, Charlotte, Western and ODU should be top 3 teams. ODU should have the strength to play an aggressive style on offense and defense....at least that’s my assumption on July 4.

I trust that everybody is having a wonderful summer and I will try my question again. Amari Young, Aja Wayne, Brianna Jackson, Iggy Allen and who is the other guard in opening day starting lineup. Do you agree with the starting four or are there other suggestions and combinations? Who are the first nine players to start the season?

I think Snoop Adams starts for sure. You could see her confidence growing as the season progressed.
