They really ought to do something about all the weather delays - like giving more western and northern teams hosting regionals.

By my count there are at least 7 different teams in SoCal that have hosted in the past, but none this year (though there were 3 hosting teams from elsewhere in the west). The teams just need to be good enough to be seeded in the top 16.

Nebraska had Arkansas sweating. Until two outs in the bottom of the 8th. Walked the bases loaded, then a wild pitch, and then...
"Ball game."

They did. Huskers left it all on the field. Can't ask for more than that.

So, if there's a super regional pairing between two teams that didn't host a regional, the committee will place that super regional at one of the regional sites.
For example, if Nebraska wins on Monday, the committee would pick one of the regional sites that isn't already hosting a super regional and send Nebraska and NC State there.
Looks like the only "neutral" site super regional is DBU vs Old Dominion or Virginia. Fort Worth and Columbia will both be available. I put "neutral" in quotes because DBU could play 30 miles from home in Fort Worth.

LSU rallies past Oregon 9-8 ... LSU advances.
LSU won 4 straight elimination games to win the regional. This is retiring coach Paul Manieri's 9th regional title in 15 seasons at LSU. This is the first time LSU has advanced from a road regional since 1989, and the first time they have advanced after losing their first game.
Stanford beats UC Irvine ..... Stanford advances
UVA vs ODU only undecided regional.

Big West bows out after going a combined 5-4. UC Irvine 3-2, UC Santa Barbara 2-2. Performed slightly better than expected.

Makes sense. Old Dominion is a 1 seed. Virginia is probably a higher 3 seed than DBU. Instead of making one of them fly to Texas to play a lower seed, they can keep the winner in a hotel in Columbia for the rest of the week and fly DBU in there.
