Keep guys fresh, keep Defenses guessing.

With all that talent in the RB room, it’d sure make sense to spread the carries around. Especially, if the OLine is improved as many of us here are projecting/hoping for, there’d likely be less of a drop-off in production from one guy to the next.

My two cents.

I think the carries will be spread - but Waylee will be the leader of the pack.

The beauty of having Collins and ol’ ratdog around is that you don’t have to have waylee in every series or to get the tough yard.

This team is going to look a lot like the San Francisco 49ers. The ball will be spread around a ton.

Hammock loves running back by committee which helps keep running backs fresh. Waylee’s upside is the best right now!

Waylee will be a stud. Did you want Garrett Wolfe to be part of a running back by committee group?

Once we found out how good he was No. Not sure if he’s Wolfe good though.

Much different than Wolfe.

Waylee is a full on sprinter. Wolfe was fast, not Waylee fast. And Wolfe was small - Waylee is just skinny.

I would argue for the shared carries approach, not necessarily a 50/50 split or anything, but there are a lot of talented backs on this roster. Save Waylee in his first 12+ game college season.

It just seems like you might lose momentum when you have a RB doing well and getting into a rhythm and then you take them out and put somebody else in there. I mean if they're somebody that can handle a workload.

Are you not old enough to remember watching Wolfe play? Short of MAYBE TLL, he’s the fastest player I’ve ever seen at NIU. Saying Waylee is faster....not sure about that.

Well next year quite a few might be leaving. Wish it was oline, Cline or corner but happy with any and all difference makers.

Do I have to dust off my “Wolfe getting caught from behind” video(Ok, it’s only 3 clips) Wolfe was definitely fast but his best attribute was how quickly he got up to top speed. I’d be fairly certain Waylee is faster than Wolfe. He just isn’t anywhere as elusive so he won’t get as many opportunities to show it.

No way is he faster than Waylee - heck he might not even have been faster than AJ Harris in his prime at NIU.

Wolfe was fast, but Waylee is another level.

Didn't Nathan Palmer run a 4.34 40? He also tore Minnesota a new one.

I like Waylee. But he's not on Garrett's level. Garrett ran a 4.38 and also never dipped below 6.0 YPC.

If he tears it up this season, I'll agree with you. He was only a true freshman last year. Plenty of room for improvement.

If Waylee shreds the non-conference competition we will have a real argument here. GT and Michigan defenses are usually stout. Prove me wrong Waylee!

I googled Wolfe and Pro Day and it showed 4.39 for Wolfe there. He certainly got up to speed as fast as anybody I've seen. And I only remember one time when Wolfe got caught from behind. And I've watched many of his games multiple times. Sometimes he got caught because he wasn't running full speed while waiting for a block - I don't count those.

Wolfe had very good speed. Just not elite. Remember 38 yr old Charles Woodson catching him on that screen pass that could have gone for a TD?

Yea I wouldn't say elite. Is Waylee elite? He looks fast but not that fast.

He has legit track speed. 10.8/100m. Will it translate to the field? IDK. But HS kid under 11 seconds would be considered very fast. Da’ron Brown was a 10.94/100m guy. Fastest ever was probably Juan Wesley’s 10.6.

Track isn’t a prefect measure. Football is more about speed in short spaces. It takes a sprinter just short of 40 yards to reach their top speed. So a 40 doesn’t really tell you who is “fastest”, but more who can get up to speed the quickest.
