And that is a smart move. Go fishing where the bigger fish are. We've picked up the Evans brothers, Bryant, Dylan Sumners (transfer - Cornell), and now Cody Nawrot. That's a lot in a short period of time.

Didn't do a hard count but I think we may have close to a dozen players from IL (and these aren't just PWOs. They are scholarship players).

Everything I see indicates he is probably a lot better prospect than some may think.

Saw something that he is pre-season All-NEC (that is a FCS conference in the Mid-Atlantic area) LT. Was first team all-conference as a frosh.

Was getting more and more solid FCS transfer offers like W. IL, N. Hampshire, etc. (those are good FCS programs).

His commitment was lost in the sea of basketball commitments and the breakdown of the CFL.

From my perspective we have recruited too many DBs and OL. Our last recruiting class finally addressed the DL but not LBs. IMO, we need to load up on the DL and LBs so we can stop the run. I’m not sure why we can’t run the ball effectively. I believe we have very solid OL so it must be scheme. I also think our weakness this season is going to be at WR.

I bet we see a lot of TE usage in the passing game to compensate for the lack of depth at WR. Oakes and Cannon can catch the ball.

It looks like we just picked up Dennis Smith, a WR transfer from Duke. He is listed at 6'2" 190 lbs. Looks like he was a pretty big recruit, this is from Duke's website:

Coming out of high schools, in addition to Duke, he had offers from Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Northwestern, Old Dominion, and South Carolina.

At Duke he got into two games as a true-freshman and RSed. As RS-freshmen he played in four games, and then in last years 11 game season as a sophomore he played in 10 games catching 16 passes for 235 yards and 1 TD.

This potentially looks like a HUGE talent to add to the WR group. I don't know if we've ever had a recruit with those types of offers coming out of high school. In addition, the fact he was at Duke and looking at some of the other schools that offered him makes me think he is probably a serious student and good kid. He didn't do much at Duke until this past season where it looked like he started to become a contributor in a P5 conference. Should have three seasons left.

I wonder if he is taking the place of I'Shawn Stewart (the Oregon State WR transfer). 247 never updated his profile saying he committed to EMU and he never showed up on the official roster. His twitter still says EMU commit though so I'm not sure what the deal is.

Very solid, with the potential to be MAC-level elite. If Smith is actually on-board, adding him and Stewart to the big three that return will be a matchup nightmare. With the second year freshmen (Keefe, Delso, Small, Smith) and first year freshmen (Mitchell, Fordham, Westmoreland, Summers) whoever plays QB the next few years should have plenty of weapons.

AWESOME GET! I'Shawn looks impressive but I'm super excited for Jarret Paul defensively. Given a lack of pass rushers, we need really strong DB's who can hang in there and this dude's video looks the part. There are guys who wait for contact and those that seek it and he seems the latter. LOVE this guy in our secondary and I'd be shocked if he's not a day 1 starter. These guys look like difference makers in the MAC and I love seeing it.

I wonder if we could get these types of transfers with high pedigrees before the new performance center and the success CC has had. Likely not. Hoping this is more to come. I feel like these are the guys you need to add in to an already good roster to get you to the 8-9 win season and not settle for 6 wins.

CC is doing well with the transfer portal. Filling needs with experienced talent. Kind of like NFL free agency.

it says something positive about about the program that he's able to draw these kids in. They're buying what he's selling. You don't get players like these transferring in if youre going to lose 9 games.
