No, and one of the big controversies in DC is that he's never sent a player to Maryland, which is like 3 miles away. His response is that he doesn't "send" players anywhere; rather, he lets them make up their own minds where they want to go to school.

As it should be.

which is why we gave Jeff Capel so much grief when his son didn't play for ODU

Anyone that gave Jeff Capel grief that Jason Capel went to UNC is a moron.

The story was Jason told his dad he would come to odu to play and dad turned him down so he could to unc. My point at the time, and now, was how do you walk into the home of a 4 or 5* recruit, the kind some here are sure we should be getting and convince them they should come to a school not good enough for dad. It's one thing if you are unc and 5* are dying to go there, another when one player like JC could put you in a whole new realm and you send him away.

I didn't phrase that well, but I think you get the point. I hope.

The story I heard was that Jason said he would play at ODU and Dad told him to go where he wanted to be, and not to feel committed to playing at ODU just becasue he was his Dad. But I do agree, he could have been a super star at ODU instead of just a piece of the UNC machine. Granted it was a pretty impressive machine at the time.

If Im Jeff Capel, I tell my son to go to UNC 100%. Jason had the opportunity to go wherever he wanted and it would have been selfish of his father to want him to come to ODU. Jason really did plan to go to ODU but what was best for him was to play at the best of the best.

Jeff made the right decision and not the selfish decision.
