Liberal or leftist?
test

The great tragedy of our time is that liberals vote left.

Virtually every value liberals have held for a century is now held by conservatives and scorned by leftists. Therefore, America, in serious jeopardy of being lost, will be saved when people convince the liberals in their life that the left, not the conservative, is their enemy.

Here are questions you might want to pose to friends/relatives to determine—as much for them as for you—whether they are liberal or left.

RE: Liberal or leftist?
I expect the liberals/leftists who occasionally post here will ignore the questions because they do not like the source (and in some cases, the answers). But the questions seem to be mostly pretty pointed. Unfortunately he does not tell us how to score the quiz.

In the spirit of fair play and dialogue, here are my answers:

1. No
2. statement
3. Noble
4.Yes and no. It tells me something about their probable politics - nothing about their probable abilities.
5. No

7. Yes

RE: Liberal or leftist?
I have always considered myself to be classical liberal, which we call libertarian, and definitely not leftist. I think my answers to this test are consistent with that.

ETA: Here are my answers:

1. No
2. The statement
3. Noble
4. No
5. No
6. -
7. Yes
8. No
9. No
10. -
11. No
12. No
13. no
14. Yes, very much better.
15. Far worse.
16. Yes
17. No, we are a free-market, capitalist, democratic republic, and none of that should change. I have proposed some ideas to provide a more comprehensive safety net, of which all originated with people generally regarded as "conservative"--Bismarck, Friedman, Boortz, Linder.
18. Yes
19. Those mentioned are biased toward the left. Others are biased toward the right. I don't think we have an objective, non-partisan media channel any more.
20. Yes
21. No
22. illegals
23. No
24. yes
25. Gun-free
26. 18, possibly younger with parental consent.
27. No
28. Absolutely not. If you are a girl who can compete with the guys, you go, girl. If you are a guy who can't, sucks to be you.
29. No
30. I would allow for high school or maybe junior high school, but not elementary.
31. Free speech allows for hate speech, but not incitement to hateful action.
32. -

You two think a school that has a sign of 'armed personnel' is *more* likely to be attacked than one with a sign of 'gun free zone'?

Oops, gun-free. Edited and corrected. I tried copying OO's answers and changing mine in a few spots to save typing. I'm pretty sure he will change his, too, when he sees this.

How does this list of questions get you there? There's no explanation of any type of scoring system. The article is ridiculous and the author makes no effort to back up his claims. However, in the interest of dialogue I'll answer the (bad faith?) questions when I have an upcoming break in my morning schedule.

Yeah, I noted that there was no way to score the test, and I truly would like to be able to tell liberals from leftists. We use the terms interchangeablely, but there are technical differences.

Since you intend to answer, it will interesting to see where we differ - and where we don't.

I'm saying that I didn't watch that series and my assumption is that an argument was made for slavery being one of the drivers for the American Revolution. I'm not going to dismiss that argument outright without knowing it. Agree that I wasn't taught in school that slavery was a motivator but I'm open to the possibility that my education didn't provide the complete story.

Quote:In #29, I didn't look for an angle. I just answered the question.

It's a dumb question. "Men give birth"? Who says that? Did he mean "There is the possibility that science will advance to the point that men are able to carry and deliver babies?"?

You'd didn't hear about it being a prime motive because it wasn't a prime motive. The claim of the "1619 project" that it was is ideology, not educated opinion. The educated opinion is No.

Saying that one does not have an educated opinion on the subject suggests that either (a) one knows little about the origins of the American Revolution -- which is a sad state for an educated American, or (b) one does have an opinion but is embarrassed to state it.

Come on, George. I said I'm open to hearing their argument about how slavery was a motivator. I'm not saying that I agree with their unknown argument or that I anticipate agreeing with it. It's a little much to demean me for saying that I would listen to a POV.

2. "There is only one race—the human race" is racist? *That* one to me is a serious head scratcher.

3. Why *cant* one be color blind? This is one of the cruxes of CRT mind you.

Quote: It's a dumb question. "Men give birth"? Who says that? Did he mean "There is the possibility that science will advance to the point that men are able to carry and deliver babies?"?

No, he meant is the phrase 'Men give birth' based in science? I dont understand the need to toss in any number of qualifiers to the simple question based on a simple phrase.
