Looking at the other teams in the rankings they release, it looks like it is a lot of branch campuses of larger universities with other assorted small colleges thrown in.

Could there be finer weather for college baseball in Cincinnati than what awaits us today? A doubleheader against #11 ECU gets underway after the lunch hour.

I'm juggling my work schedule to catch at least one of the two games this afternoon and I hope many seats are filled with the Red and Black clad Bearcat faithful for the second to last home stand before the AAC Championship in Clearwater.

This game has taken a turn for the worse. Already 7-2 ECU in the 2nd.

Yeah...ECU is a buzzsaw. We will be lucky to take 1/4.

UC splits the DH with ECU. EU won game 1 8-4. UC wins game two 7-6 on an ECU throwing error in the 10th that allowed 2 runs to score.

A tip of the cap to ECU; an impressive baseball team which appears to have all the ingredients for a championship run. UC battled every game this weekend and winning one against the Pirates suggests UC can play with the best in college baseball. Googins is building a program here and it's exciting to see the progress.

In the big scheme of things we know it's all about football for the P5. But baseball matters, especially in the ACC and B12 which each have multiple teams in the current top ten. Quality baseball will check a box for Cincinnati when expansion comes again.

Until then, short of UC knocking off ECU in the AAC Championship, my hope for the Pirates will be a College World Series to cap a year in which the American reached the Final Four (Houston) and the top ten in football (Cincy) to further raise the "P6" profile.

You guys have a good team. I wish you could have gotten off to a better start this season, because you definitely have the talent on the roster to compete in a regional.
