I'm not a Republican and my opinion of them is only slightly higher than my opinion of Democrats.

Drama queen.

Closest to democracy falling since the 1700's? Wipe the sand out of your mangina, Jussie Smellit. We had a thing called the Civil War, fool. You might have heard of it. Been reading too many Stacey the Hut romance novels and you cannot distinguish what is grotesque and nasty from what is media-fed and corrupted. But, then again, being educated in the greatest American armpit of a city gives some explanation why you are so incredibly stupid, to the bone.

Civil War was never a threat to democracy. In fact arguably, the Union was fighting democracy as it prevented the South from seceding. Now you could argue had the slaves and women had the right to vote, that might not be the case, but that wasn't the flavor of democracy back in the day. No matter how you look at it, democracy wasn't at threat. The USA and the Confederacy would have likely thrived under democracy even if the South had won. Granted the South would have taken a few more decades to catch up to the morality of the Union (and the rest of the civilized world), but still, it would have happened.

Why not think before you write? I'd say the closest would be WWII, but even then we were never within weeks or even months of losing democracy like we were when that insurrection hit under Trump. Another that comes to mind is the War of 1812, but even with the British burning down the White House, there was no real threat of them taking over, nor an end to democracy. I didn't count the Cold War because ending democracy by ending the world is just not relevant to this significance of the moment under discussion.

So, burning the White House and large swaths of DC to the ground by a foreign military, the strongest in the world at the time and the largest most powerful navy in the world plying our rivers, lobbing bombs at ports and cities and wherever else they’d like, no big deal.

400 folks with American flags or dressed in flag tshirts and blue jeans and some guy running around with a horn helmet- nary a ready weapon to be found, smiling Cops all around,

Errrrrmigedddon!!!

Threat to our democracy!!!

The chickenshits were back certifying the vote within a couple hours. Some old guy took an empty envelope and posed for a selfie.

What he is is another example of how much success the MSM has had in leading the idiot army around by the rings they like to stick in their noses. As ‘that guy’ once said, tell the big lie long enough and people will begin to believe it. Add to that the low level of education these days and -presto- you got this guy.

But the Reichstag fire is what effectively ended democracy in Germany back then and installed Hitler into power 4 weeks later, very similar to the way Trump wanted to be installed into a second (and likely perpetual) term only weeks later on the back of propaganda rather than legit election results. How is this different than the Reichstag fire except this time it didn't succeed?! THANK GOD!

We have to learn from history. Not re-live it. After what I saw in January, I now know it's very possible (if not likely) the U.S. will fall into authoritarian rule in my life time.. most likely as part of a world transition period between sovereign countries and a unified central AI controlled form of government 50 years from now. That transition period is what we have to be scared of more than anything else. Authoritarian rule might be the least of our concerns.

I dare say it was easier for the U.S. to defeat Hitler's military through force than it was for the German people to defeat his propaganda from within. Propaganda is a far greater threat to democracy than anything else. Ask the Germans. They know this fact first hand. It's built into their laws to avoid a repeat of it.

The British had no intention of retaking the "colonies" and re-installing their rule over us. They were just defending maritime rights and their influence in the Canadian region. In fact the British even claimed the justification of taking and burning Washington was in retaliation of the fact we took and burned York (Toronto) the year earlier. At no time did anyone in America even consider the possibility of a complete British invasion. The Revolutionary War proved that was impossible. Besides, we started the war. They didn't.

You’re pure comedy.

Just your language against such a sacred institution of democracy demonstrates the cancerous effect of propaganda.

I turned on Fox News last night and could not believe the ridiculous childish dog-whistle language they were using. Sometimes it was so ridiculous even the commentators couldn't keep a straight face. One America is even worse. I can't believe that is allowed on TV. I just have to ask myself, what kind of childish people watch that crap and actually fall for it? What kind of government actually allows such brainwashing?! Granted I see it sometimes on MSNBC and CNN as well, but it's nowhere near as bad as the conservative channels. Intellectuals generally do not for pray to such immaturity and intentional brainwashing.

RE: Democrats Draft Legislation To Erect Permanent ‘Insurrection Memorial’.
One should be able to properly identify the source of propaganda. I will point out that it most often comes from government and media. Governments that aim for control over the masses are most likely to produce propaganda. Media who only reports on one side of a story and is in lockstep with government is most likely to be a mouthpiece for propaganda. What do we have here now? Both.

The founders gave us freedom and a government as much for the people as possible but they also stoked a real fear of that same government. They knew men and they knew ambition and greed. They knew we would wind up here one day. They have given us the tools to bring our government back to the will of the people. I hope we are able to correct this within the voting booth.

There are strong painfully obvious hints when you just know we have a government aiming for control through direct propaganda. For example, when Trump installed William Bar (without a single democrat vote) to replace Jess Sessions for attorney general. Every modern administration since Nixon that I know of has gone out of their way to make sure the Department of Justice was completely independent of the President. But not Trump. With that appointment, he made it clear he wanted no independence and even openly gloated as such well before the appointment and well after. So OF COURSE in such a scenario COMMON SENSE says he is trying to control the population through propaganda. And as expected, definitive proof of that is finally coming out now since the department has regained it's independence under Biden's appointment of Merrick Garland who had a solidly bi-partisan confirmation vote. Anyone who doesn't think for one minute Trump wasn't playing the Hitler playbook to overthrow democracy through propaganda is just fooling themselves. And worse yet, Trump is STILL trying!

The Democrats voted overwhelmingly against people they had unanimously voted for prior to President Trump. William Barr would have been approved 90-10 if Jeb Bush or Chris Christie were president. Nobody was ever so partisan as the Attorney Generals under Obama.

Perhaps you should listen to one of the most conservative leaders in your own party who voted with Trump 97% of the time. I guess she is complete ignorance and disregards the Constitution as well in your eyes? Liz Cheney said this yesterday and was booted from her leadership role in the party for feeling this way. Incredible.

"God has blessed America, Mr. Speaker, but our freedom only survives if we protect it. If we honor our oath taken before God in this chamber to support and defend the Constitution if we recognize threats to freedom when they arise.

"Today we face a threat America has never seen before. A former president, who provoked a violent attack on this capital in an effort to steal the election, has resumed his aggressive effort to convince Americans that the election was stolen from him. He risks inciting further violence. Millions of Americans have been misled by the former president, they have heard only his words, but not the truth. As he continues to undermine our democratic process, sowing seeds of doubt about whether democracy really works at all.

"I am a conservative Republican, and the most conservative of conservative principles is reverence for the rule of law.

"The Electoral College has voted. More than 60 state and federal courts, including multiple judges the former president appointed, have rejected his claims. The Trump Department of Justice investigated the former president's claims of widespread fraud and found no evidence to support them. The election is over. That is the rule of law. That is our constitutional process. Those who refuse to accept the rulings of our courts are at war with the Constitution. Our duty is clear. Every one of us who has sworn the oath must act to prevent the unraveling of our democracy.

"This is not about policy. This is not about partisanship. This is about our duty as Americans. Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar. I will not participate in that. I will not sit back and watch in silence, while others lead our party down a path that abandons the rule of law and joins the former president's crusade to undermine our democracy.

"As the party of Reagan, Republicans have championed democracy, won the Cold War, and defeated the Soviet communists. Today, America is on the cusp of another Cold War, this time with Communist China. Attacks against our democratic process and the rule of law empower our adversaries and feed Communist propaganda that American democracy is a failure. We must speak the truth, our election was not stolen, and America has not failed.

EXACTLY!! We 100% agree!! COGS The Reichstag fire was exactly what I compare this to. I didn't want to say it because it would have just seemed like another Nazi post not to be taken seriously.

400 folks with American flags or dressed in flag tshirts and blue jeans and some guy running around with a horn helmet- nary a ready weapon to be found, smiling Cops all around,

Errrrrmigedddon!!!

I can't keep a straight face reading this.

If you truly believe everything you post here, then you are the reason that a lot of people have no interest in associating with you and your ilk, and why a lot of people believe this country would be better off with a peaceful split rather than the civil war that will ultimately result from this.
