On his fourth team in four years? I don't know his circumstances/story but man does that look bad on the surface.

As crazy as this seems, it is not that unusual these days.

I'm normally not one to try and set expectations high or trash talk. I'd rather lay back and then celebrate when things actually go well, but...

As long as we stay decently healthy I feel like we're the team that's going to push Liberty if anyone is going to do it. We've got a team that will legitimately go at least two deep with high quality at all five positions, and if you've ever seen EKU play you'll know that depth will serve us well. The press never lets up. I can't stand how many months I still have to wait to see this team play!

I also feel like EKU is the team that should be in second. LU is going to have some new starters but in all it will be another solid NCAA or bust years. I think EKU is the biggest threat to it being a bust season.

RE: Looking Ahead To 21-22 Basketball Season
2021-22 Way Too Early

1. Liberty - I expect Liberty to be better, maybe much better
2. EKU - Some big losses but have recruited well
3. Lipscomb - Asadullah & KJ Johnson return plus I think Valpo transfer Ognacevic will be really good
4. UNF - Hendricksen is back for his Senior year and their young talented bigs are a year older. Driscoll isn't finished with his roster
5. Bellarmine - This assuming Bradshaw & Claycomb are gone
6. JSU - Lost a lot of production (half of scoring by my count) off a good OVC team. Tough to gauge.
7. Stetson - Last year I expected the Hatters to be much better. Christiaan Jones is a big loss.
8. Jacksonville - The Dolphins lose Dontarius James but the overall roster is much better/deeper. Mincy's 1st HC gig.
9. FGCU - Andy Enfield & Dunk City seems like a really long time ago
10. KSU - A pretty good roster of young athletic guys
11. UNA - Littles & James were a dynamic Post duo and they are off to South Alabama & Rider.
12. Central Ark. - 56% of the scoring gone from a team that wasn't very good.

It is possible. They will be pretty talented but I’ll have to see the coach put it together first.

Coach Harper has replaced at least part of that production with D-I transfers.

G Caleb Byrd transferred in from UNC-Charlotte. He'll still be classified as a freshman, and only played limited minutes for Charlotte, so his college scoring proficiency is a huge unknown, but he was a scoring machine in high school in metro Atlanta.

Senior G Jalen Gibbs transferred in from Mt. St. Mary's of the NEC, and should have more of an immediate impact. He was the Mountaineers' leading scorer during the 2020-21 season, averaging 16.5 per game.

Why do you assume Claycomb is gone?

He is listed as a Senior on the 2020-21 Roster

Last I heard, he intends to use the NCAA's COVID bonus year and will be back. Only one who it appears won't return next season is Bradshaw, who declared for the NBA draft; a big loss, but I won't be surprised at all if Scotty brings in a perfect-fit transfer (the program has a knack for that) and/or one or more current players "step up" in a big way.

Bradshaw himself was a great transfer, and I'm impressed with what Scotty got out of him. He looked a little lost during his time at EKU. He just never found his rhythm.

Belmont to EKU to Bellarmine where they finally got a high performance out of him. You are right, kudo's to them.

RE: Looking Ahead To 21-22 Basketball Season
Pedro seeems like a very nice young man and he had a great season for BU. I wish he were coming back. I don't understand the NBA thing , however. There is absolutely no chance he is going to be drafted. His success for BU was mostly around the basket and he did not have great games against the bigger teams. He is an okay 3 pt shooter but not an NBA shooter. He would have a good chance of playing overseas and I suspect that is where he will end up.

RE: Looking Ahead To 21-22 Basketball Season
I agree he's not headed to the NBA, but I get it. I don't think coming back for another year was going to change that for him. If anything, hanging around for another year takes a year off of whatever his body has in the tank and is one less year he ultimately gets paid to play basketball regardless of where it is.

EKU gets a commitment from 6-7 JUCO CF Michael Wardy. The previous JU coaching staff had offered Wardy. From the video that I have seen he looks like a pretty solid ASUN big.

EKU continues to load up. EKU now the solid #2 IMO. Might even beat Liberty unless the tourney is on their home court.

UNF has announced the signing of 6-3 SG transfer Jarius Hicklen from D2 Oklahoma Baptist. Hicklen averaged 17.1 ppg/4.3 rpg as a Sophomore.
