The above stats are not likely to move the BOV or the Office of the President into supporting a change, especially considering budgetary implications.

As far as the Conference move, WS did not operate in a vacuum, and in no way was he the final "decider".

Given the above, the WS extension should be no surprise.

Hiring coaches may be with other approval but Wood is a close buddy of Broderick, etc.
Say what you want, but Wood usual gets his way. Now the higher ups at this great university, can not only give Wood a 3 year extension but Wood can give JJ another 5 year extension, to completely ruin the program. In quoting the great seasons, the NIT was because of Freeman (a transfer) and the many 20 win season was against cupcakes. Most of those wins were because of transfers, not incoming freshmen in a weak league. Maybe 4 out of the 14 teams are any good. Eventually, the lights will come on, to many long term fans.

What I found most interesting is that the minutes reflect two different salaries for Coach Rahne. Near the top of the minutes where his hire is approved, the salary is listed at $750,000. Then on page 17 in the list of administrative hires, he is listed again at a salary of $650,000. Anybody have a clue which is correct?

Which ever it is, it is safe to say that he took a significant pay cut to come to ODU. I could not find the salary of the OC at Penn State with a cursory Google search, but his successor came from Texas where he made $1.7 million as OC there. Rahne's salary at Penn State had to at least be somewhere in or darn close to that neighborhood.

All of that said. I am glad we have him. This cements for me the belief that Rahne is good, ambitious and intends to have great success here before moving on to bigger and better things. I wish him all the success in the world.
