Quote:Economic activity boomed to start 2021, as widespread vaccinations and more fuel from government spending helped get the U.S. closer to where it was before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.

Gross domestic product, the sum of all goods and services produced in the economy, jumped 6.4% for the first three months of the year on an annualized basis. Outside of the reopening-fueled third-quarter surge last year, it was the best period for GDP since the third quarter of 2003.

“This signals the economy is off and running and it will be a boom-like year,” said Mark Zandi chief economist at Moody’s Analytics. “Obviously, the American consumer is powering the train and businesses are investing strongly.”

Millennials have been upset because they are carrying student loan debt that keeps them from being able to buy a home.

What would they do with a return to double digit inflation and mortgage rates of 14%. I pray they don’t get to either.

There isn’t a Reagan waiting to lead the country out of it this time around.

Quote:Gross domestic product, a measure of the economy’s health, grew at a 6.4% seasonally adjusted annual rate for the first three months of the year, the Commerce Department said Thursday. At the same time, Ford Motor Co. and other auto makers are halting some production because of semiconductor shortages, Caterpillar Inc. and other manufacturers are working to counter rising prices and short supplies of needed materials, and Domino’s Pizza Inc. and other chains are struggling to find enough workers.

Still riding the Trump train. Biden* will derail it

Exactly. Only the ignorant deny President Trump's economy is the real driver of any remaining successes, but just wait until next year and all the Dweemoncrap madness destroys the economic successes of President Trump...unless after the fraud is exposed in AZ and other states, our Real President can be reinstated and the imposters thrown in prison for their illegal coup. Somehow, many feel the Bushies and Mittens, et al. probably won't go along with the truth, so here we are.

And trump didn't ride anything on the economy from Obama...got it. 03-lol

Mr. Trump received an economy that was growing but not particularly strong, and improved it. Mr. Biden received an economy that was growing strongly, now let's see what he does with it.

The first quarter report was overall very good, as expected. The second and third will be good as well, dumping Trillions of $$ in subsidies into the economy tends to do that, and there's enough pent-up savings and latent demand to drive a strong recovery this year without doing anything. The question will be mid 2022 and after when the effects of new government regulation and much higher taxes take their toll.

Overall a good quarter, credit some a significant amount to the tail wind but you have to give the current admin at least part.

Ah, gotcha. Figured it was about growth. Anyway, better get it now because those numbers will crater if all these tax increases go through in the not to distant future.

Just curious how the unemployment rate went up in April? Everything is opening up, nearly every business is hiring, Uncle Joe* has pumped $4 trillion into the economy. How is that possible?

I mean inflation going through the roof was totally expected, but how is the unemployment rate going up?

If 2Q gdp is under 40%, we are in deep sh*t.

Idiot. 03-lol

You do understand just how much the economy has contracted since the covid scam shut it down, right?

Are you referring to 40% growth?

It decreased by 32% last year because we were shut down.

Thank you.

Consumer-fueled economy pushes GDP to 6.4% first-quarter gain

Inflation was at a 7.2% annual pace in March....

Jimmy Carter 2.0....

Thanks Joe*......

Just curious how the unemployment rate went up in April? Everything is opening up, nearly every business is hiring, Uncle Joe* has pumped $4 trillion into the economy. How is that possible?

I mean inflation going through the roof was totally expected, but how is the unemployment rate going up?

For too many people unemployment checks are greater than their take home from whatever jobs they had or might get? Where's the incentive to return to work when Uncle Nanny will take better care of them than they can take of themselves.

TN just joined a growing list of states who will no longer participate in federal unemployment benefits pretty much forcing people back into the work force.
