It's just the way things are today. If he gets hurt, the media & casual fan will be looking for someone to blame. We even heard it briefly during the national championship FB game when Jaylen Waddle limped around the field & the comments were that Saban shouldn't have allowed him on the field, that he was jeopardizing his future. You make the assumption that logic & fairness have some place among the media. It's the media questioning that motivated the doctor & mother to comment on his health. Hope he stays healthy & doesn't get hurt. It won't be good for anyone but the media if he does.

I’d never make that assumption. And the comments were made because his mother was being interviewed about his remarkable recovery. She simply recanted what the doctors had told her about said recovery. I would imagine they told Norvell the exact same thing. Norvell isn’t putting his job on the line by playing him. Neither Norvell, the athletic director, the trainer, the doctor nor the mother will be fired if Milton reinjures his 100% leg.

Not the way the media works. I didn't say he'd be fired. I said it could lead to him losing his job - things add up. If Milton turns out to be his QB then gets "permanently" injured, the media will influence against Norvell's judgment notwithstanding the doctor's view. Couple that with a poor record (having lost his QB) & Norvell's job could be in jeopardy. He was already roundly criticized by the media for sending out group communications during Covid-19 restrictions to his players rather than individual messages with the media saying it was hurtful & showed a lack of individual attention.

I've seen something like this on the commercial appeal e.edition. Bleeds through from the Knoxville newspaper.
