What, you mean you fellers don't like Mark Emmert?
I waited for two days for somebody to post the triumph that was snuck out of the press room at the NCAA in Indianapolis at almost 10pm ET. And that is the unanimous extension by the NCAA Board of Directors of Mark Emmert through 2025.

They had a 15-20 minute "burn Emmert to the ground" segment on Packer & Durham yesterday, so I guess we know how the ACC feels about that decision.

In what universe has Emmert earned an extension or really anything other than ridicule? He spent the last two years spending nearly record sums lobbying Congress to bail his sorry butt out. $200m down the drain on that one. That's $200m that doesn't go to the ACC or the SEC or Pac-12 or the Sun Belt or the MVC or the WCC ... just straight up into bank accounts of slimy ********. How about that crack enforcement team at the NCAA? The one that drops the hammer on an assistant coach for texting too much but lets Miami skate on injury bounties and UNC skate on academic fraud to say nothing of the contents of FBI wiretaps -- which nobody has suffered consequences for yet from the NCAA. Or how about only insuring March Madness for half of the revenue it generates in one year? Still not a fan yet? How about doing their best Emperor Nero impression while NIL burns down their "amateurism model" building all around them? Hey guys did you hear we fixed basketball by throwing around the idea of a 6th foul instead of doing something about having over 1/3 of all MBB athletes in the transfer portal? Who's on your team next year? Nobody knows. In some cases literally everybody who saw minutes in a power program is in the portal. What's that, football getting stale with the same 3 teams in every single year? Well we won't expand the playoff ... but here's some new overtime rules!

So .... with that .... a simple poll question above. It should be fun to revisit in 2025.

Premium talent receives premium pay. Congrats Mark Emmert on a well-earned extension.

That was just kicking the can down the curb. But I find your poll both intriguing and hilarious at the same time if it inspires more sarcastic posts like IWokeUpLikeThis.

I'd love to know how you came up with a figure of $200 million in lobbying expenses for the past two years. TBH, I don't believe it's true.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to drum up support for Emmert. But neither am I prepared to run him out of town on a rail.

lol....the thing a lot of these talking heads dont understand is that Mark Emmert isnt really there to run and guide the NCAA. The individual school presidents run the NCAA. Mark Emmert is there to advocate, support, and implement the policies and goals the NCAA membership votes for. In other words, Emmert is doing exactly what the presidents enmass are telling him to do---so its not surprising the same presidents renewed his contract.

#5 then #4 happens. The bailout is for golden parachutes for the NCAA employees and leadership. Screw the schools (AKA Business as Usual)!

BUREAUCRACY OVER MISSION!

I still don't believe it's true (assuming you didn't misinterpret what they said). You can buy Congressmen and Senators a whole lot cheaper than that.

I just listened to them talk about Emmert for 16 minutes yesterday, and I didn't hear a single word about lobbying expenses. Can you direct me to where they said this? I'd love to hear their take on it.
