Can't you people just accept that some things can be taken at face value. It is positive press period.

True. People that tie their self esteem to university rankings from some odd group in the UAE need help.

Same goes for people that tie their self-esteem to a message board and "winning" discussions.

For some very small people, in their minds, yeah.

Thanks to you and a couple of others (the Canadian, the chick, etc.), it's impossible to have an adult conversation and disagree with a modicum of decency.

Oh, and btw...the UofM is not exactly an academic powerhouse. I love the city and the school, but can be honest about it.

heck, im an alum but im not stupid or delusional. the ranking is ridiculous. i guess it hurts some peeps feels

whatever. i dont give two shites what some outfit in the UAE thinks of the school.

i guess some grasp for any validation they can find.

How about the US Dept of Education.
85 % acceptance rate and a 41% grad rate. Compare that to "peer" schools. When those numbers change I'll be impressed.

The Univ. PR dept must he pretty good though.

RE: Top 5% world ranking
Why is it hard to believe a university offering the range of studies that Memphis has would rank higher than a predominately liberal arts or military school?

If you ranked our military education against Navy we would certainly lose, but Navy does not offer the range of studies Memphis has available.

I don't understand the inferiority complexes here.

When Carnegie R1 is achieved this summer/fall (per Rudd), grant eligibility and rankings (USWNR) should both see positive effects.
