A 4 star recruit recruited by Baylor, Tennessee and SMU, among others
Averaged over 10 points as a 5-9 freshman
While his numbers went a little down in his sophomore and Junior years he was still a solid contributor both seasons
Averaged 7.5 in 23 minutes a game for a bad Iowa State team
Random sampling he had 8 against Iowa and West Virginia
Against Baylor, he had one 4 minute game with hardly any stats then in their next game with Baylor he had 22 points
And we are looking down our noses as though he’ll be lucky to play or some massive regression?
I hope we sign one of those two higher caliber PGs (Iowa State or Coastal kid). But even if we do, it is very likely Harris still remains in the rotation

Some of y'all whine so much that it's hard to believe you're even fans. Sometimes it seems like you just follow the team so you'll have something to ***** about. This sort of complaining by fans is the same **** that put Larry Finch undeservedly on the hot seat back in the day, and now it seems like some of you are trying to give Penny the same treatment. Do all of us a favor and just sit down and shut up. Let Penny do his job. Note that I named no names, so if you read this and thought "That guy is talking about me! I need to respond!" then maybe take a minute and consider what you've said that made you think I was talking about you.

Honestly...
Not sure who looks down their nose at a 4* walk-on.
Those are unicorns.
And to the offensive angle...We lost Precious but added Nolley at the beginning of the year...Offensively I would call that a wash.
Our offense at the start of this season was much worse this year than last until Deandre showed up.

I get you are hedging because you are convinced that if he is highlighted that is bad news for Memphis because he is under 6 feet, but he is unlikely to be a top performer he is very likely to be in the rotation, getting solid minutes and helping Memphis win games
Last time Harris was here Memphis finished 5th in AAC & at ISU when he was there playing lots of minutes, they won 2 games. He no longer a top 100 player or a 4*. He's now just one of hundreds of college players who has made now two decisions to find another place to improve his circumstances. The fact that he hasn't been vocally negative like the Lawson's when they left Memphis is noted but why should any objective fan be encouraged that Harris will help us win games - some of the same fans already critical of Warren because he is trying to find the best situation for himself & he has proven college level value.
But saying Harris & Lawson are wayward is correct. Just because some here have chosen to attribute the most negative use of wayward is on them not me. As vocabulary.com says, "Someone wayward is a little stubborn and independent — they're determined to find their own way and are not easily controlled. Being wayward can mean a few things, but they all have something to do with doing your own thing — often, going against what others want you to do. A rebellious student is wayward." And this certainly accurately describes Harris & Lawson's.
But apparently in this day, the wok have no room for any views but their own.

There was no "trade" of Harris for Warren... Tyler is not even taking up a scholarship but keep to your fact devoid narrative...
Warren’s decommitment has nothing to do with Tyler Harris. Don’t know why anyone would think it is.
I don't know why a Southern Miss fan is posting on a Memphis board either so go figure ...

Did Harris confide in you or something? What makes you think that describes Harris at all, when it’s likely you know nothing about the guy?
I’m beginning to wish Penny had used up a scholarship, just so some of y’all’s heads would explode.

Bruh this is a Memphis Tigers fan board. Why are you surprised that people here have an issue with someone's negative views regarding the team? This isn't reddit, it's MT.org. As for the way people interpret your comments - when you never say anything positive it's hard to give you the benefit of the doubt. Last but not least, I'm not sure what stir fry has to do with this, but I don't think my wok has opinions on anything.
It isn’t about dreaming that this is the move that will bring a title to Memphis
It is about not needlessly beating the **** out of a Memphis raised college aged kid who seems to have done the sin of, trying something different then wanting to come home?
YOU are the one feeling attacked and defensive
Buck up snowflake

Just gain a sense of reality, just because he's a Memphis kid doesn't mean he's going to help this team as you seem to assume. And stating reality isn't an attack on a Memphis kid. I just want a roster that builds on the nucleus we have coming back - and I don't see that yet outside of potentially Timberlake. Yet some think a 200# 6'8" kid because he's from Memphis (Lawson) can play the 2-5 proficiently banging with the competent 5s we'll face, playing & guarding the PG if called upon & anything in between. Take off your blue glasses, I'm just trying to balance the bias around here from you & some others. And buck up yourself, stop your whinning about those that don't share your bias.

Stubborn, independent, not easily controlled, rebellious, determined to find his own way, against what others want of him, wayward. Those were your words.
Yeah, you’d have to know the kid. You’d pretty much have to be his mother.

If Tyler is starting for us things have gone extremely wrong but I'm glad he's back. If everything goes right he can make some important plays as a lower-rotation spark plug.

Jason Smith says his [Tyler's] father is also dealing with a serious medical issue. So that factors in with his desire to come back - even if it's walk-on status.
Dude will win us a game this year. Question is, will that make you happy or sad?
