No personal attachment or care whatsoever on the part of any fans, for any of the players. Why would anyone care about any of the players or the results of any of the games? Why would anyone pay money to see these games in person or on tv?

You're exactly right. People may hate the NCAA, but those same people have an attachment to the universities within the NCAA. That's why NCAA sports like basketball and football are so wildly popular. Every single time one of these NCAA competitor ideas pop up, they always seem to miss that dynamic.

All it takes is one player to sign but the NBA g league will do more damage to this idea than NCAA basketball.

3 words that foreshadow failure. But unlike MLFB the NBA doesn’t care if the G League has fans. The new launch has to generate revenue.

MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL!

Yep. Why do I care about Memphis, except for those early mornings hanging out with Prince Mongo, worried about exams, and having to make my 9 am class?

I think y'all are missing the point here. We can argue till the cows come home that this particular attempt will fail..but in truth, it's just another step in sparking a fire to 'wiggle out from under the blue-blood driven ncaa'.

When ole fussbottom sent that letter to the Cali Lawmakers warning them not to pass or sign the players get played bill....it had no effect on the lawmakers what. so. ever.

SEP. 11, 2019 10:51 AM PT
The National Collegiate Athletic Assn. warned Gov. Gavin Newsom in a letter Wednesday that state legislation allowing college athletes to be paid for the use of their name, image and likeness would be “unconstitutional” and “harmful.”

NCAA President Mark Emmert and 21 other members of the organization’s board of governors signed the letter.

“Numerous legal scholars assert that SB 206 is constitutional and that an NCAA ban of California colleges from championship competition is a clear violation of federal anti-trust law,” Sen. Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley), the bill’s author, said Wednesday in a statement. “The NCAA has repeatedly lost anti-trust cases in courts throughout the nation. As a result, threats are their primary weapon.

With this league, it boils down to why anyone would cheer for them? There is no attachment to the city, no brand, and they are all one and done.

Are fans going to cheer for them to be lottery picks?

You lost me. Has Memphis been mentioned as a host city for this new league?

I'll watch the first half of a game and make my decision as to whether I watch the 2nd half... we'll take it from there.

NOBODY gonna watch these games in TV, if people were fawning for more basketball games in TV , there would more than 475 watchers on the GLeague broadcasts.

Not only that, EuroLeague games could be broadcast cheaply in the USA and they have fans in the stands making it much more compelling than this new “league”

Some of our loser fans do that every game. Sometimes they are too fragile emotionally to continue watching, so they turn it off.

I don't know if this league will work out, but it could end up indirectly tying together with this one.

Believe all the rulings were wrong. The NCAA is a voluntary organization made up of member schools. This is like joining a club then suing because you got outvoted on the club rules.
