RE: 2021-22 Hoops Transfers and Recruiting
NIU Recruiting Update:
Maxime Ekono - Committed to Bradley - 6’7” - PG - WHAT????? - 210 pounds?????? That can’t be correct. Anyway… - 2* recruit from Scotland Campus Sports (Scotland, PA...not Great Britain) born in Nanterre, France - Okay...right off the bat, there’s a lot to take in here. A 6’7”, 210 pound point guard? I gotta find some video...which...hasn’t been easy. The only video I’ve found is a 21 second clip of him dunking during a layup line with an overlay graphic that read “Maxime Ekono is going to be a problem”. But, another tweet I found did confirm the 6’7” height but just said “guard”.
I’m sorry, but I have absolutely nothing to go on here. I can’t find anything. If anyone has ANY info on this dude, please share it. I’m intrigued. Anyway, Ekono has received additional offers from LaSalle, Montana State, Bradley, Southern Utah, Gardner Webb, Chicago State, and South Florida.
Well, at this point, Coach Burno has some work to get to. Personally, I was hoping he'd get this guy. I found him intriguing in a lot of ways. NIU was the last school to make an offer to him and it's very possible he had already been leaning heavily on going to Bradley well before NIUs offer.
But, like I said, Coach has some work to do. We currently have two spots to fill and 2 outstanding offers. One is to JUCO transfer D.J. Sinkler, Jr. who I'm not all that excited about. The other is to Keon Thompson who was a Montgomery offer a long time ago.
Montgomery made the offer to Thompson back on 8/20/20. He's actually a nice player. I'd much rather have him than Sinkler, tbh.
Just to update. NIU is the only school that has made an offer to Sinkler and Thompson has received additional offers from Mount St. Mary's, FGCU, Akron, Robert Morris, Indiana State, Drake, Cleveland State, Ball State, New Orleans, Miami (OH), and Valparaiso. Since the NIU offer back in August, Mount St. Mary's (January), FGCU (November), and Akron (August - a week after NIU) are the only schools to have offered him a scholarship.
