NTR - DJ Jeffries to Miss St
We now know why he played like crap the first half against Miss St in the NIT Finals.. He was auditioning for Howland and couldn't shake the jitters.. Glad Penny let him go.

I wish him the best though.

RE: NTR - DJ Jeffries to Miss St
Quote:Jeffries entered the transfer portal on March 31, along with Tiger guards Boogie Ellis, Damion Baugh and Jordan Nesbitt. Ellis committed to USC, Baugh to TCU and Nesbitt to Saint Louis. Also, center Moussa Cisse announced earlier this month his plans to test the NBA Draft waters. Although Cisse did not sign with an agent, he is not expected to return to Memphis for his sophomore season.

I am not expecting him to comeback either.. Cisse is GONE!

He doesn't care about post season play. It's not about that. It's about him wanting to play the 3. He ain't no 3, and had to hit the road.

The only thing that makes sense if he didn't hire an agent would be to expect to transfer someplace else. If he's definitely going "pro", then it doesn't make sense to not hire an agent.

But why would he want to play with a bunch of guys that throw him passes he can't catch?

He was visibly frustrated with not being in games late. Word is that was a point of contention with his people. But that seems something Penny is capable of overcoming and calming.

Maybe he is back. Media talking heads don't think so, though.

This...or when he did catch it cleanly he was walking or throwing up bricks. He had his moments though so hopefully he will come back and continue to develop.

Let's be honest.. The real reason why Cisse was out late on games.. He was a "BIG" liability at the FT line.

100%. You don't drive the lane and throw the ball in the guys stomach. Cisse would have averaged 2-4 more ppg if guys just threw the ball up.

If you cannot catch a ball at your waist it is not the guys fault throwing you the pass.

RE: NTR - DJ Jeffries to Miss St
Our best runs late in games came with Moussa on the bench, and Deandre/DJ guarding the "5".
If Moussa is in there, he either misses the pass, or catches it and gets fouled - hitting 1 of 2 FTs (best case).
He can improve, and likely will. But I blame no part of his bench-sitting on Penny or on guys feeding him the ball.

Hopefully, the rest of his team will be ok with him taking 25 shots per game and “clearing out” so he can repeatedly try & take his man off the dribble...

A lazy post having nothing to do with the facts. In the AAC Tournament and the NIT, he shot for a high percentage from the field even though he was bad from 3 point range; he had 3 assists per game with only 1.7 turnovers, rebounded well and scored 12 points per game.

He improved his playmaking, decision making and shot selection 100% at the end of the season. He played very good defense and made effort plays and key plays when we needed them.
