How much are they paying him and will Cinn be held to the other coach's $5 million dollar buyout. Going to be a very expensive year especially if the legal battle carries on into court. Congratulations on the new hire though.
6 years. 8 million. As far as Brannen's buyout, stay tuned. I ultimately expect a settlement in the neighborhood of half the buyout to avoid the mess of court.

As a fan of both Cincinnati and North Carolina, I am thrilled with this hire for UC.

Solid hire .. much better than some of the others that were floated around.

The recently passed transfer rule could potentially give him the ability to rebuild really fast.
Apparently Mason Madsen and Mike Saunders love the hire. Bring them back and you are at 6 players. No word on Eason but he's the most talented of the bunch, so hopefully he is open to returning.
Wichita was considered one of like 3 spots for Saunders and we just landed a Junior PG with high level scoring ability, so more and more, it seems like unless Saunders wants to go to BYU and deal with everything that comes with that ... I'd say it's a good chance he ends up back in Cincy. Would be a really good piece for Miller to start building with.

Tari was live on Instagram yesterday a few hours before the announcement was made, and for the hell of it, I asked him if he planned on hearing the new coach's pitch. He said he loves the city and the fans, and will be open to communicating with the new coach. It's going to be tough to bring him back with all the big name programs that are involved in his recruitment, but I think there is a real chance he could return.

Saunders announced he will not be committing today as planned. That has to bode well for UC I'd imagine.

Yea, I think WSU landing someone at his position this week and UC hiring a coach really resets everything for him. Good for him to take his time and feel things out.

He was headed to Wichita before this week. Was his #1 option I believe. Was taking the other PG a matter of not wanting to wait? Both seemed like good options.

RE: Cincinnati hires Wes Miller (UNCG) as its Next MBB Coach
From what I've gathered, I'm now expecting Saunders, Eason, and Mason Madsen to return to UC. A good start to help stabilize the roster. Now to fill it out. Tari would be the biggest risk but if he feels comfortable, his preference is to stay.
Lots of interesting guys still in the portal. Not likely to hit a home run, but still a chance to get really solid guys in here that will stabilize things pretty quickly. I don't think an NCAA at large bid next year is super realistic, but I don't see why 2 years and being on the bubble is unfair at all.

It makes sense. Saunders is from Indianapolis I think BYU could be a massive culture shock if he went there

All 3 guys definitely seem to be open to returning. Their decision to hit the portal was strictly due to issues with Brannen. They like the school, city, and fans.
IF all 3 come back, I might be a little more optimistic regarding our chances at an at-large bid. The way the young core played towards the end of the season was really impressive. Find a starting center and a good wing player in the portal and we're back in business. We would be returning 4 starters. Still an uphill battle to make the tournament, but I don't think it's an unrealistic goal if Miller can find a couple dudes in the portal.

While I agree the team showed genuine progress towards the end of the year, I think you might be underestimating just how far off we were from being an at large team last year. It wasn't close.
Outside of getting a couple studs in the portal, it's hard to see a path there next year even with the improvement in continuity of the roster.

Well we also had a coach that thought it would be a great idea to play Vogt and Rap together for the entire non conference portion.

I think Qua Grant was probably our preferred PG anyways. Either way, neither one was so heads and shoulders above the other that you tell the other one to wait. A bird in hand and all ...
