RE: Basketball Recruit Updates
Unfortunate, but we missed on Farrar. We'll still get to see him twice a year CoC though.

RE: Basketball Recruit Updates
Who knows? Hawks added the guy from Morehead and also have the guy that is killing it in the JUCO tournament coming. This guy is interesting though at 6’6” and 230-260. That’s a hard guy to move in the hole.

There are like 1800 kids in the portal. Nothing to be excited about right now, but there is no reward for being the first to complain.

It helps me, I'm being selfish. Let's see our coach actually do something then i won't have to be sarcastic

RE: Basketball Recruit Updates
Another shooter that we've offered; good size at 6'7, but not a front court player
https://www.al.com/sports/2021/03/south-...ortal.html
I did see this comment from a USA fan when he transitioned in last year, "South Alabama could be reaping the rewards of the transfer market this year with Sam Iorio, 6-7 230 small ball 5 via American w/deadly outside touch..."
I'm not sure how he was actually utilized though. Body looks more like a stretch 4 in Siddle's system.
Another Tweet, "South Alabama adds scoring with 6-7 Sam Iorio, transfer via American. Avg. 13 points and 7 boards at AU as a sophomore and had multiple games of 7+ 3-pointers. Tough, floor spreader who guards multiple.positions"

If he gets hot, he can kill you the way that read. Need to be able to post defend and defend pick and roll. Could be good pick and pop guy.

Freshman season at American was outstanding, but dipped his sophomore season there and again last year after sitting out under normal transfer process.
Patriot League All-Rookie Team … two-time PL “The Rock” Rookie of the Week (1/8 and 2/19) … Started 28 of 30 games… Placed third in PL in minutes per game (33.4) … played 934 minutes in his debut season, third on the team … tied for seventh in the PL points per game (14.9) … tied fifth in the conference in rebounding per game (6.5) … finished T-fifth in blocks per game (0.9) in the PL … scored in double figures in 18 of 28 games and half of those games were over 20 points … registered six double-doubles over the course of the season … shot 47.7% from the field, 43.7% from 3-point range, and 79.1% from the free throw line … scored 24 points and added nine rebounds vs Wagner (11/18) … dropped 20 points and 11 rebounds in a home win vs Loyola (Md.) (1/11) … contributed 26 points making five 3-pointers in a road win against Boston U (1/17) … played 40 minutes and contributed 24 points versus Colgate (1/27) … added season-high 30 points in home game vs Lehigh (2/10) … posted 22 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and hit game-winning three with two minutes to play in a home game vs Boston U (2/14) … made 3-three-pointers on 10 of 14 shooting to scored 28 points in game vs Lafayette (2/17).

From the looks of it he is big, and while not a traditional big he can rebound AND shoot. We need both!

RE: Basketball Recruit Updates
Good point Hoops! He can really help out if he is as versatile as it seems. The defensive side of it is really critical here and and you need to look no further than Hofstra to know why. We had no answer for big boy down low period so we have to have a guy that is 220 or better that can give resistance. The plus side is that he can go off and that would be huge if he felt comfortable stepping out and rolling. Coach should let him know that is part of the deal. If you can hit 3 balls from the 5, that changes things.
We can look at the great athleticism that we will have at PF coming in, albeit in the 6'6" range, and we do have a freshman big that needs pounds, but they don''t have the girth to deal with a big like that. No matter how the game changes, you need some true bigs or at least some guys that are space heaters down low to fill out a roster. Hope that it works out.

How could it be? I’ve been told here he’s not that big of a loss. Good luck Jake hopefully your new coach lets you play the right position!

Do you ever have anything positive to say? Cause I've never seen it. You're putting all your chips on the men's basketball team sucking next year aren't you?
