Seemed like he fit ok the last 13 games

I meant from his POV. He needs show the NBA he can be a scoring PG. I guess he thought he couldn't do that here. I'm disappointed he is leaving. I think when he started making his 3's, it saved our season.

To my earlier point, Askew is in the same boat. His position in the NBA is scoring PG.

During both of those stretches there were narrow wins that could have been losses and the three losses all could have been won

Opposition was a little tougher the late stretch primarily based on playing Houston twice

There was nothing extra magic the last 9 games that wasn’t already being done
Would have been nice to have had a complete team those last games as it would have been more likely to have beaten Houston too

Alo was the best PG we had last year. Boogie played very well at times but he never got the other guys involved in the offense.

Yup...

Lomax isn't great...But he was the best we had running the point. ALo was less critical once Deandre got acclimated because Deandre could intiate the offense.

Boogie is a scorer and when his shot is not falling he is not really contributing offensively.

We have some on here who have been on a crusade against Lomax since he arrived.

It’s weird.

If you’re saying Boogie was the answer then I don’t know what to tell you. Boogie was not a point guard.

If you don't think Boogie was a PG after our best stretch of wins against the best competition we had all year with him playing PG, I don't know what to say.

Who was playing Lead (Pg) when Memphis State won the NIT tourney over Mississippi State that you are ordering all these shirts and cheering for 04-rock As well as instead of just getting past mediocre teams, Memphis State became DOMINANT towards the end....clearly showing that this team was crescendoing (Had NOT hit it's peak)

DJ and Deandre played as much point down the stretch as Boogie did.
All analysts and most impartial fans will tell you - Boogie is not a PG.

To say that the opposition the last 9 games weren't exponentially tougher is laughable at best, playing teams in a tournament (loser go home) as well as a FF team twice (on the road) is an extremely daunting task....I can't understand, for the life of me how some can diminish the magnitude of what we just witnessed just to prove their point..... (But celebrate emphatically)

Give Penny credence for finding a way to get Boogie rest, as there's practically noone to sub for him (Jayden)

Now, I have addressed this before, going to attempt to clarify even more, when Boogie is not hitting shots, he's not effective as he doesn't get assists argument....

Because Boogie is an offensive threat, defenses CAN'T cheat off of him.....Did anyone realize how irate Kalvin Sampson got when Boogie hit shots, I remember one of those games, he actually called a time out...

What this does is spread a defense thin,If your point person can shoot or score......What that also does, is create space as well as lanes for all of our other "playmakers" .....As a matter of fact....Our season dramatically improved when EffortLess began hitting shots....This is when the crescendo began......Before Boogie taking the rains, Lester's shot was rushed/hurried he was not in rhythm and was throwing up wild shots as the shot clock ran down.....

This is due the the inability for Lomax to keep defenses from sagging off of him and put tremendous pressure on our shooters as well as take away driving lanes.......Hence, even when Boogie is not scoring, there is still pressure on the defense to guard him (because he can go on a streak)....The prime example; Winning these tough games even when normal fans feel that Boogie isn't effective.....The others players have lanes as well as open looks.(opportunities to score) merely from his presence

Running Point as opposed to "bringing the ball up" are two entirely different spectrum's....That's the beauty of Penny's scheme, as every position is allowed to make plays......The fact that Deandre has those abilities, helps out tremendously, relive pressure from the mainstream facilitator, as that play maker can move to open spots/quick cut/flash/post-up etc.....
This system became more effective and harder to defend as more play makers were able to contribute....The offense became more diverse/more fluid, meaning harder to defend....Even after offensive rebounds our team facilitated quick sets even better......

When every player on the court can make plays, Penny's system is unguardable...

Looks like Penny is gonna choose between Askew, Faulkner and Timberlake for the backcourt to replace Boogie and Nesbitt.. Chandler Lawson would be the wing to replace DJ.. Warren was brought to replace Baugh.

I'm still waiting on some one to define the "classic PG". And then describe how'd that fits in the Memphis offense/defense scheme.

There may NOT have been a "Classic" point guard since Andre Turner

Shame on anyone (especially me) for trying to "relive the spectrum's" and debate with someone like this. This comedian thought Nolley should be our point guard.

I know I'm going to regret this, but...What in the world are you talking about?

No one is diminishing the competition down the stretch. And I love the shots that Boogie hit. What we are saying, along with Fraschilla and everyone else, is that Boogie is not a classic PG. If he was, we wouldn't have seen DJ and Deandre running more point than he was.

You are describing Boogie as a Shooting Guard.

I'm still waiting on some one to define the "classic PG". And then describe how'd that fits in the Memphis offense/defense scheme.

And you believe that describes a position in the Memphis offense?

It describes a position in every single offense on the planet.

You just can’t reason with some people. They will not accept that their point of view is not always correct. Sometimes it’s just better to leave it alone.

When you have a bunch of guys who cannot get their own shot on the floor...You need someone to facilitate the offense.

Boogie was not that guy...Heck Boogie struggled to get his own shot most nights.

Boogie is a good player but he must play with a facilitator if you want your offense to be successful. Without Lomax the only other consistent facilitator we had was Williams. That is why when Williams got in foul trouble we struggled.

Genius wanted Nolley to be the point guard.

Unusual Belief That Nolley Is A Point Guard

Assist Per 40 Minutes
7.7 Lomax
5.3 Williams
3.9 Baugh
3.0 DJ
2.9 LQ
2.6 Nolley
2.6 Boogie

Lomax had roughly the same number of assists per 40 minutes as Boogie, Nolley and Baugh combined. Genius concludes that Boogie and Nolley should be the point guards. 03-lmfao01-wingedeagle

In the Memphis offense the system is the facilitator & it allows the playmakers to use the system to make plays & it varies from opponent to opponent & match up to match up. - it's not BB as it used to be played. The "classic PG" has the ball in his hands too much to make the Memphis offense consistently productive. In the Memphis offense if a single player has the ball in his hands for an extended time but can't create his own shot, he's a liability.

Everyone created shots for teammates better than Boogie and Baugh. Our offense was run like that because it was useless with Boogie and Baugh running it.

You have it backwards.
