I think that one more year would be needed, but he already does have history and is a known commodity.

The only way I see Drew leaving is if a P6 Christian University came calling, a la TCU or one of the Big East schools.

Thanks for the insight. That would make sense.

Bryce Drew won't join a league his bother is part of and I don't see a catholic school being to his liking. Also his parents have relocated to the PHX area and they have made it known that PHX area is the last place they want to live. I also can see GCU spend the money to keep him around being that it's their marquee sport at the school. Anything is possible but there are only a few schools that will feel comfortable with him actively talking about his faith publicly.

The fact that he talks so openly about his faith is a major plus in my book. It is refreshing. While it is a shame other universities may encourage coaches to downplay their faith, if this means Coach Drew stays longer at GCU then so be it. 04-rock

Thinking out loud here, but could players be entering the transfer portal because they think Jans is leaving and don't want to stick around for who comes next?

Any one know which denomination he is? His father got a degree from Seventh Day Adventist University. But traditionally, actual Seventh Day Adventists don't work/play on Saturday's so they must not be that.

lol bryce drew is not going to turn down a P6 job to stay at GCU. ADs are familiar with coaches that want to talk about their faith, that is hardly a sticking point.

If Jans was offered by Texas Tech, he would be crazy not to take it. I do not think he will be, but that is a major step up from NMSU.

SFA assistant coach (WBB) gets a head coaching job...

Quote:TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler Athletic Director Dr. Howard Patterson has announced Rebecca Alvidrez as the athletic program's sixth head women's basketball coach in program history.

Alvidrez recently finished up her fourth season as the associate head women's basketball coach at Stephen F. Austin University, assisting in the rise of the Ladyjacks program that culminated in a 47-9 overall record in the last two seasons in Nacogdoches and a trip to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Tournament just a few weeks ago. Alvidrez will bring over 20 years of coaching experience to the sidelines for the Patriots and will lead UT Tyler into their first year as a potential full-fledged Division II institution.

"The moment I stepped foot on the beautiful campus of UT Tyler and met their great people, it was obvious this is a special place," Alvidrez said. "I am thrilled to lead this program and young ladies back to the tradition of success. I am confident that our women's basketball program will work hard to be amongst those ranks in the future! I would like to thank Dr. Patterson, coach Wilson, and the entire UT Tyler Athletic department for giving me this incredible opportunity."

Alvidrez was a key part to Stephen F. Austin's rise to the top in the Southland Conference as she was directly involved with all program operations including scouting, film analysis and game/practice planning. Alvidrez and the Lumberjacks became just one of 15 NCAA Division I programs to post back-to-back seasons of 25 or more wins in 2018-19 and 2019-20, and one of 20 teams that posted four consecutive seasons of 23 or more wins during her time on the sidelines for the Ladyjacks.

Looks like GCU and NMSU can breathe a sigh of relief tonight as Texas Tech is going to elevate Chris Beard's assistant, Mark Adams.

Why would GCU fans care? The Drew brothers have made it know they won't ever coach in the same league or schedule games vs each other on purpose unless it was in March Madness.

I believe Cincinnati will be looking for a new HC shortly. Not out of the woods yet. But we can see the clearing.

I hear ya but would Jans or Drew leave their jobs for that? I have to think both feel like they would need to be swooned at a level that would be tough to believe. I think both love where they are at.

Actually, ACU fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Coach Joe Golding was one of the 4 people actually interviewed.

I don’t believe either GCU or NMSU ever had anything to worry about. Neither of their coaches were interviewed. ACU’s coach Golding was on of the candidates TT actually interviewed. Big sigh of relief in Abilene. ACU could not begin to match TT money although every effort will be made to boost his salary enough that other mid majors won’t be as attractive.
