That was probably up there, but not a championship finish. Nothing has topped NC State over Houston IMO.

If Butler hit that launch to beat Duke it would have been the greatest of all time.

With Gonzaga/Baylor set, it is just the third time since 1985 where both championship teams are private schools. In 1985, it was Villanova/Georgetown and in 2010, it was Duke and Butler.

That doesn't happen a whole lot.

Both NC State and Villanova happened on this day, April 4th!

That Indiana - UNLV semifinal in 1987 was a torrid game. A classic.

IIRC, they scored that many points without overtime, LOL.

Freddie Banks hit like 10 3s for UNLV. Sadly Banks, like Indiana 3-point sharpshooter Steve Alford, did not have NBA range and never made it in the pros.

All UCLA's top players are eligible to return next season. If they do, are the Bruins ranked preseason No. 1?

I don't think any predictions can be made until the transfer portal settles down.

Juzang might go pro too - he's a 1st round pick next year for sure. If he is a potential 1st round pick this year, I think he'll move on.

In the latest NBA draft.net mock draft, Juzang is not even a second round pick. He may have moved into the 2nd round based on his tournament performance, but his ball-handling, passing and defense still need to improve. He is a scorer and he really caught fire in the tournament. During the regular season, he was not as consistent offensively. He shot 51% in the post-season and 41% during the regular season. He should probably declare for the NBA but not hire an agent. This way he can work out for NBA teams and they can tell him where he stands and what he needs to work on. If he is a projected second round pick, he should stay. If he is a certain first round pick, he should go.

I agree that the transfer portal makes predicting next year's top teams somewhat difficult. That said, UCLA, Gonzaga, and Michigan are loaded for next season, based on what is returning and what is coming in. Villanova, Duke and Kentucky should be among the best teams next season, based on recruiting and the quality of their coaches. They are all top ten teams.

Last night's ending was one for the ages. But, I agree on NC State and Butler.

There are 4...
NC State/Houston
Duke/Kentucky
Villanova/UNC
Gonzaga/UCLA

Yes, if Butler makes that shot, it's #1.

RE: Final 4 Game Thread: UCLA vs Gonzaga
If Baylor wins the championship, the Gonzaga shot will live forever as a great shot but not a championship winning shot. We still think of Laettner's shot as one of the greatest but imagine if Duke didn't win the national championship. Or how about Tyus Edney's layup in 1995 for UCLA? That was in the 2nd round! UCLA had to win four more games after that just to win the national championship. If you want to remember that shot, Gonzaga better win. Otherwise that shot will be (well I can barely remember the other game winning buzzer beaters that didn't win national championships and there's probably a reason why).

And Ohio always went with the winner of the Presidency ... until they didn't this last election.

Meaningless coincidence.
