Kansas coming for both Tulane’s AD & Fb Head Coach
The athletic has Tulane’s AD as one of two finalists for the Kansas AD position (the other candidate interestingly is the northwestern Deputy AD who has a Tulane MBA and used to work for our athletic department).

The Speculation is that this is a UTennesse/UCF situation where they take our AD and Our Fb Coach who has strong (family and recruiting) ties to Kansas, Missouri and the Midwest.

Obviously this is poor timing to lose a HC and AD. Our AD has done a solid job (but poor at fundraising) but we would definitely prefer to keep our HC. He’s making $1.9m from us currently, obviously Kansas could beat that

Dannen walking isn't the end of all hope. We should fight for Fritz, and let Hunter decide what he wants.

Tulane pays way more than it used to at all levels. No need to dumpster dive.

If the worst happens and Fritz leaves--Id target Bill Clark at UAB. I think he could do a good job of building upward from the foundation already in place.

Agree. I'm surprised he still hasn't landed a bigger job. Is he a bad interview or something?

I’ve seen him work a room. Very impressive. Now granted that’s not exactly the same thing as an interview. But I really doubt that’s the reason he hasn’t landed a P5 gig.

I admit I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet, too. Not sure what’s going on. But after all, he’s got a good thing going at UAB. He probably thinks he can afford to be choosy about where he might go next.

The real beauty of this plan is that LSU's cover up of systemic sexual abuse against women has ultimately set in motion a course of events that will rattle Tulane (former SEC rival) to its core and could set the program back a decade.

Think about that - it's the type of thing that makes you not care about college sports anymore...

Lot of good coaches available for Tulane to poach. G4 never looked so plump and ripe for the taking. Grab that Coastal Carolina guy...

I agree +1000 about throwing a huge Raise at Bill Clark. It is amazing what he has done with nothing at his gig. I do worry he has built it and saved it he feels like needs to stay. But with the Kansas buyout of WF we could double his salary.

Not sure coastal Carolina hc would come to us or if he would be a good fit. Not sure who else would be a good fit. Not sure Lance Leopold would
Come either.

LSU fires Miles. Covers up things on his watch.

Miles goes to Kansas. Dirt comes up about time at LSU, Miles is fired.

Kansas AD is fired for hiring Miles.

Kansas now looks to raid Tulane for both the AD AND HC.

If Tulane fails to replace either, then they will be set back a decade.

Being able to replace good ADs and coaches are what set the good programs from the pack. Tulane fans like to talk about how valuable they are because of location, academics, fertile recruiting, etc.

Boise, Cincinnati, UCF, Memphis and Houston have lost multiple ADs and coaches over the past 15 years or so and found a way to bounce back, either immediately or within a couple years. If Tulane is as great of a gig as you believe (and I am not saying you aren't), then you too will be able to replace those two rather quickly and keep on rising.

Tulane is the most challenging job in the American by some distance. You CAN win here, but there is less room for error.

Hunter isn't going to any cow town unless they pay him $5M per plus. His resume says a lot about where he and his family are comfortable.

I don't know too much about Tulane's history other than one time you all were in the SEC and since I've been alive haven't been too relevant in big games for football and obviously basketball.

I would think Tulane would be a solid job if I were a young coach trying to make a mark somewhere:
1) Nice city to live in
2) Great Academics (Not sure if you have higher standards than the rest of our conference for athletics, but even so I don't always find that to be a negative)
3) Recruiting Hotbed
4) New Stadium that fits the program well
5) The perception of The American has increased dramatically since inception and that helps all schools. I believe most would concur we have gone from:
a) Battling MWC for best G5 conference
b) The Premier G5 conference
c) Tweener G4/P5 conference at least in terms of NYD selections and even the
outside chance at making the playoffs. If we go undefeated this year (who knows it's a what if) UC will definitely be knocking on the door.

Kansas is the UCONN of the Big12.

Have they ever been good at football?

They should just give their football program to Wichita State.

Pointless banter. In my perception, they’ve been a better football program than ECU since American inception.

Yes, ECU has a ton of potential and can’t wait till you all are back!

Yeah i don't believe we are the most difficult job in the AAC. We have had an AWFUL president and AD for many years who tried to kill athletics. They have been replaced and the new president and board are now committed to athletics - its really that simple. We now accept NCAA minimums for student admissions and trasnfers. We still do look at their character and talent, but we don't need the kids to be Rhodes Scholars anymore. We are in fertile recruiting grounds, with only one P5 in the state. We don't need to compete with LSU for recruits we just need the best of the rest ( beat USM, LA Tech and ULL on the trails). We have a large endowment, in a highly desirable city to live in with good relations to the local pro team and a desirable degree. The owner of the Tampa Bay Bucs & Manchester United is a large donor.

Tulsa is in a tough spot with funding and a very small student population and less desirable area- but they have some advantages too. ECU has a very loyal and good sized fan base (much more so than us) but has its own problems as well.

Also for what its worth we went undefeated in 1998, have been invited to multiple rose bowls, hosted two superbowls and have more SEC Championships than half of the SEC.

Kansas was very good in the late 2000s. USF played an epic game vs them at Ray Jay in 2008 with 60k in the stands.
