From the article -
Leading scorer Jayden Gardner announced his decision Monday. A day later, 7-foot center Charles Coleman became the latest Pirate to enter the portal. They join freshman guard Noah Farrakhan, junior guard Miles James and senior graduate transfers Edra Luster and Bitumba Baruti, who are both using the extra year of eligibility extended to athletes by the NCAA due to COVID-19.

Gardner should land at a P5 school. Probably in the ACC if he wants.
I believe most of them were expected as they have 6 players in the incoming class either signed or committed. Gardner definitely a direct result of the impending 1 time transfer waiver. Not sure what this all says about Dooley as this is the second large recruiting class he's had in the last 3 years that it's purpose is to change the program.

Coaches, like myself, already knew about this, but it’s good that you people now know.

I thought it was funny, that's how I took it anyways... from the previous post I made about you being the coach.

Winthrop is hiring WCU coach Mark Prosser. I've heard that he will be hiring Monty Sanders. Sanders will also be looked at to replace Prosser at WCU. We'll be in search for a new assistant coach either way.

To be fair, it appears Monty is moving up a chair and will be seeking a HC job coming off of that promotion. So it isn't exactly a lateral move.
Everything is NOT fine but this isn't a big reason to be concerned.

I agree that it’s not a big reason. The problem for me, is that it is ANOTHER reason.

Almost every school is dealing with turmoil. Sounds like he's leaving to be a future head coach with the seat being kept warm. I doubt he has that waiting for him at UNCW. Reminds me of when the strength coach left for NCSU and some on this board had a melt down.
That's NCAA sports in 2021. Everyone is a free agent!9

I don't waste my energy fretting over "what may happen" anywhere in my life, and certainly not over sports. Not worried about what happened last year or now. Let's see who we have and what we look like this fall. Last year was by far the most insane year in most of our lives, and there isn't even a close second. Basing anything on what happened and trying to use it to project to the future is a waste of time. You just can't, good or bad.
Seems like Siddle is laser focused on big men at this point. Now just waiting to see who signs on. He's got plenty of openings and PT for whoever signs on.
I'm really hyped to see Phillips at PG and Jamarii backing him up. Those two are going to be a terror no matter who is in the game.

There isn’t much one of KK’s boys could do that he wouldn’t be feeling good. Being concerned that we at the very least have a smoldering fire right now is not in melt down mode it’s called being realistic.

Assistant coaches contracts are on a year by year basis. They move around A LOT for the right opportunity to further their career.
With that being said, Sanders leaving for the HC job at Western is one thing, but him taking the assistant position with Winthrop to be a “future head coach” as 82 insinuated is a bit puzzling. Granted I know he was an assistant at WCU under Mark Prosser. Prosser had moderate success at Western (a very tough job to be fair), but isn’t guaranteed the fast track at Winthrop to move on in the next few years. Sanders could be the HC in waiting here just as much under Siddle after a couple of successful years.

Phillips with Okauru will be exciting to watch. Add in a healthy Simms, next year is promising as long as we get two solid transfer bigs.
