Drunker is a freshman and playing like one. From what I have heard needs some seasoning.
Not saying he will never be great but he came in as the highest rated player in NIU history. If he was that highly rated, he should show more than to be sitting behind 3 other RBs
Waylee, a true freshman, stepped in and looked great
Being a freshman, being injured, and getting his sea legs under him is no crime.
He’s probably getting his body back up to speed and now he needs reps. Waylee got a ton of reps last season and he really benefited from it.
I think Waylee is special, so being behind him on the depth chart is not bad.
When brown steps on campus he will be the highest rated recruit NIU has ever had, and I fully expect him to be behind Waylee, Collins, “Rat Dog”, and maybe ducker
Cream roses to the top. Waylee is special he stepped up. Chad Span was special, he went from walk on to starting quickly. Rudolph went from PWO to excellent returner and very good receiver. Cream roses.
It also rises.

Understood. I was just having some fun with you. And I know what you mean. I am so old that everything is failing on me - vision, hearing, and other things. Also, things no longer rise for me - or even "rose".

What do you find special in Waylee? I do think he is pretty good, but I can’t point to a single run that really stands out. I’m attributing some that to playing a little slower because of inexperience. Now Rudolph, yeah, you see it immediately. He stands out when he touches the ball. Waylee? Idk. I’m hoping to see growth in year two.

Waylee runs to daylight. Some small slips and other weird stuff last season wiped out some runs that could have been big time.
A true freshman last year, who was undersized, went for over 100 yards and solidified a backfield that could not help but stop itself with turnovers.
So I guess speed plus running to daylight = special. Don’t ignore his 100 yard games. To get consistently out of a back would be fantastic!

Our offensive line was a work in progress last year. Waylee will break quite a few 30 plus yard runs. He is a homerun hitter

I’m hoping he is sort of a second coming of Dri Archer. He didn’t blow up until his third season, but he went bananas when he did.

He’s definitely not Dri Archer fast but he can fly. His biggest issue last season was how fast he hit the grown after contact. Hopefully him bulking up will make the difference.

Not quite as fast. Archer was a 10.5 100m guy and Waylee is 10.74. But they are similar in style. Small guys who hit a hole and are gone(hopefully for Waylee). They’re not a make-you-miss small guy like Wolfe. But Wolfe was also strong as hell and could break tackles.

Regarding Waylee, there was a quote in one of the NIU Huskie articles that he was breaking 60 yard runs daily. If he can get a hole, he could be gone. I hope he is more like Garrett Wolfe than Dri Archer

Having another Wolfe type would be awesome. I’m getting excited about this team, and next year is going to be even more fun.

He isn't anything like either of those guys.
Dri was tiny, garrett was tiny...Waylee is 5'10 180lbs...already heavier and taller than either guy. Plus 5'10 is about the height you want a RB.
I would have no concern giving him 20 touches in college football...maybe more. He will need to add weight to carry in the NFL, but here, he's good to go.

He and archer are close in size...5’8” -180 for archer and 5’10” -180 for Waylee. I consider both of them as being slight of frame. NS why they run away from people .Wolfe being 5’7” 185 had more of that compact power. Archer and Waylee to me are 1 cut and go guys.. Wolfe could weave, juke and break tackles.
