Says who?

Team won 8 games last year. Escape a win at Navy, UCF missed a field goal at the end, Temple and USF was leading at the half.

Replacing the best Quarterback in school history (and his back up) the running game was absent last year, new center and left tackle, and three starters transferred out on the defensive side. New kicker and punter as well.
Nicholls, Arkansas State, UTSA, SMU, and ECU looks to be wins (as of now). Where do you think the other two wins are going to come from? Curious to here your input...

Every game is winnable. My "hope" is NOT 7 wins. My hope is to be one of the top 2 teams in the conference, challenging for the AAC title.

You're right. Each time the players step onto the field, they have a chance to win the game. However, our three toughest football games are all on the road. I'll be ecstatic if we can get 2 of those 3 wins. It'll be tough. But at least you have an expectation for Memphis football now. Some fans are still content with just making it to a bowl game.

First of all, I assume you mean”hear” as opposed to “here.” I anticipate beating Moo State as well as other foes within conference. Defense should be significantly better, I believe the QB will be good and we will be more explosive on offense. Are you always a pessimist?

Will the QB be good? Yes.
Will he be as good or better than Brady White? I'm not going to say yes on that, because that is asking for a lot in a QB in a new environment .
Am I a pessimist? No, I am just realistic. Defense should be better?? We said that last year, and they were. I don't know exactly "how much better" this defense can get.

QB may be great...Offense may be great...

But we really don't have any history to say that Silverfield can mold a QB to be successful in the offense.

It is not a simple ask...It is not something many people can do.

Sorry, but that’s concerning.

I hear you. In a "normal" day and time, losing the 2 and 3 year starters would be concerning. However, in this day and time, who the f*ck knows what is normal. Covid...free year of eligibility...possibly not having to sit a year...all them things make this a different reality.

Bottom line is... at my age...I don't have time to worry one second about why, what, and how a bunch of sub-21 year olds are going to steer their lives. I will just sit back and watch the parade pass by my porch. My two favorite philosophers were Popeye and Doris Day. Huh?

True, but he has help. OC Kevin Johns has also held the QB coach title for two years and was the OC at Indiana when 6’6” 4* (sounds familiar) Nate Sudfeld was there. Like BW at Memphis, Sudfeld rewrote the record books at Indiana.

Doesn’t the new transfer rules and previous op-outs changed the dynamics of players leaving and coming? As in you can’t possibly compared these days to traditional years in the past?

There is an expression I share with the young guys I work with as well, "Don't invite trouble" as in. don't get obessed with what hasn't happened yet, work the facts.

Ridiculous on his part. He was put in a position to have 700+ yards receiving and become a freshman All American. What more do you want from the coaching staff?

Ryan should know with the relaxed transfer rules, kids are constantly being recruited & re-recruited. Washington was looking for a little reassurance and having a freshman, who became the solid #2 option, asking about his role, should have been a red light.

Yeah I bet coach doesn’t even know about these transfer rules, lol. Maybe you should give him a call and provide your much needed insight. Heck, he might even bring you on staff for rules expertise.

He lost his best OL. He lost his best cover corner. His best RB sat out. His best WR sat out and now his potentially best receiver is leaving; so I’m sure he’s familiar with the transfer rules. I’m simply saying, the old adage in business is it’s cheaper to hold onto an existing customer than to have to track down a new one. Again, all of this may have been necessary, but in sports, the results will play out on the field.

I would like to have Eze back for another year, but Dylan Parham has been our best offensive lineman the last two years.lineman. Hopefully Carter stays healthy but he has not been the same player since his freshman year.

I'm aware. I was just responding to his view of those transfers.

I’m a TCU alum that is from Memphis. TCU is not looking to get Tajh. Eze has been very impressive so far in spring camp.

RE: Tahj Washington enters the transfer portal
Y'all do realize that we signed a highly regarded CB and OL from Michigan State PRIOR to Eze and Carter leaving? Yes, there are 5 OL spots and 2/3 CBs, but perhaps they saw the writing on the wall. I really like the transfer from TCU as well.

We have the best recruiting class in history coming in, along with an actual SPRING CAMP to install the new offense and defense. Most are forgetting that we basically did both on the fly, with dealing with entirely too much time off due to Covid. Not to mention replacing our major offensive thread one week prior to kickoff and our second biggest offensive threat after the second game.

The stupid conspiracy post on this thread are hilarious. They either didn't watch games last season or just love stirring the pot. Either way, I won't feed trolls.
