A long day for the Tribe at Charleston, dropping the doubleheader.

Other than Strain we, thus far, have no pitching.

Tribe score 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th for a big comeback win, 5-4, in the opening game of the UNCW series.

Tribe leave runners on 2nd and 3rd with three consecutive SO's in the bottom of the fifth, but still lead 6-3 in the second game.

Tribe push the lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the 7th.

Cone strikes out the last two batters. Tribe holds on to beat UNCW, 7-6, and take series. So much for UNCW cracking the polls next week. Play loose and go get the sweep on Sunday!

I rubbed it in a bit on the Hawks board. Pretty disrespectful write-up leading into the series by their resident baseball guru.

It definitely means a lot more to you than most of us. Owning the Hawks doesn't move the needle for me anymore...kinda gotten used to it.

Baseball team continues its so-far poor season, dropping all three weekend games to VCU, including a twinbill yesterday in
which the pitchers gave up fifteen runs. Our pitching has been awful all season and even Strain, in his first poor outing
of the season, got pounded Friday. Jack Cone has been hitting well recently, but, other than that, there's not much and
very little power.

What happened to all those supposedly strong arms we recruited the past two years?

At this point we can only express some gratitude that, due to the pandemic, we're not playing our usual 60+ ballgames.

Unfortunately I do not see the pitching getting any better this season. With there being no pitching coach, I can not see the pitching staff improving, and honestly I assume the arms will just be going downhill from here.

What happened to the pitching coach? Why has the position not been filled? Having a pitching coach is important from a health and safety standpoint. Unsupervised young arms can develop poor pitching motions which could lead to injuries. It is irresponsible to not have a pitching coach.

Brain Casey was their pitching coach, but he moved on to coach the Coast Guard at the beginning of the year. Fully agree that they need a pitching coach, but no clue where they are in the process of hiring a new one. At this point, I would guess (note the word guess there!) that it will be summertime before they hire a new coach.

Thanks for the info. It could be another misguided money-saving attempt by the College. Can't get a permanent AD in here fast enough. By far the most important hire on campus other than the President. Better get it right this time.
