I would love to be Loyola coach's agent. Marquette and DePaul will make a very generous offer. How long can he turn down the big bucks.

If he didn’t take one after the final 4 why would he do it now?

If he didn’t take one after the final 4 why would he do it now?

1 - Because he's older and chances for big money being offered a third time decrease significantly IF he can't keep Loyola at its level now.
2 - Last time he figured he had the nucleus to make another run and more than likely, taking St. John's job in New York, extra pressure to win, Big East difficulty, etc., didn't outweigh Loyola upping his salary.
3 - If it's DePaul, could stay in Wilmette home and little effect on family.
4 - If it's Marquette, daughter has two years left with Loyola U women's basketball and probably could transfer; oldest son just graduating high school (Loyola Academy) while other two sons still young enough to tolerate change in school.
5 - Either way, has experience of recruiting for a religion-based university that emphasizes basketball with no football program.
6 - Maybe his wife wants a bigger home budget.

Another mid-major note: 13 North Texas knocked off 4 Purdue 78-69 in OT

That's two Big10 "outs."

I suppose, but I feel that if he really wanted to cash in on success, taking a mid-major to the final 4 would have been a time to do it. Going to DePaul would be a downgrade at this point. Marquette, possibly....but Porter is a Chicago guy.

You meant to say three.

Five year contract at 20 to 23 million is a place to start.

Obviously not the way those three B1G teams wanted it to go, but unless you had an all-B1G Final Four, the league was always destined to have more losers than winners with nine teams entered.....so it kind of depends on the spin. Indianapolis and the state of Indiana are considered a hoops mecca, but their only rep (Purdue) is gone. Who would have thought the state of Texas would go 5-0 on day one? While you'll find players from Illinois and specifically the Chicago hotbed throughout the line-ups of so many schools, the NCAA set up so that only one program from the Land of Lincoln could survive from round two.

Thank you, thank you. I don't really hate the Big10, but when they lose I do get a bit excited, so I forgot the play-in. Or should I say in MSU's case, the play-out. I get so tired of Big-this and Big-that.

Was just about to post ... #13 Ohio 62-58 over #4 Virginia. Bobcats will play Creighton next round.

Also, Oregon gets to step ahead with VCU withdrawal over Covid-19 issues.
