If he goes, arguably the best coach in program history's out the door.

It’s definitely a strange phrase he used. Had he said “farm”, nobody would have blinked.

RE: College Hoops Job Carrousel 2021
Very unfortunate position for Creighton and, IMO, a lose/lose for them. If they determine that firing McDermott is the pathway forward, they lose arguably the best coach in program history that is still clearly loved by the players, school and community. If they keep McDermott, this will undoubtedly be used against him and the program on the recruiting trail, as many top-100 HS families on social media have already spoken out and said they would not let their son play for a coach like that.

Ultimately, the only person responsible for this predicament is McDermott and McDermott alone. The school and the basketball program are collateral damage.

As a long-time DePaul fan, I find Leitao a likeable person. And I feel he has been very committed to the Blue Demon program. But this might be it for him in Chicago.

I have not been pleased with Miller overall. This season, the Hoosiers got a bad break with the injury loss of starting center Joey Brunk. That was a circumstance beyond Miller's control. He might get one more season. Hard to say.

He actually did well the first time at DePaul when they played at Rosemont Horizon...which is pretty much an unrecruitable venue by Big East standards. Surprised he hasn’t done well the second time, but it seems like it’s only a matter of time with his recruiting.

Since I just started grad school at DePaul I felt obligated to really invest in their M/W hoops programs this season. They generally competed (nice win over St. John's) but they seem to lack continuity far too often. Granted, DePaul dealt with some significant (relative to most programs) Covid issues this year. Even so, I don't think Leitao is the guy to get the Blue Demons back to the tournament.

Huge buyout too. IU isn’t messing around. Wonder who the target would be? Drew?

RE: College Hoops Job Carrousel 2021
This is the prime week to fire a coach whose team isn't in the tournament, so there might be more dismissals (errrrr, "mutual parting of the ways") in the next few days.

Strange in a way that Archie Miller is out before his brother, but it does show that the business of college sports forgives cheating much more easily than losing.

If I was going to bet money on it, I'd bet on Beilein being their next coach.

I'm not saying that's a smart move on IU's part, but given that they paid a huge buyout and the implication is that they already have someone lined up, that points to someone who is already available and is a "name" who the AD thinks would "win the press conference".

That’s absolutely who I think they’re going after.

It takes 3 years to rebuild...by then you have 70+ year old leading the program. Don’t think so.

Agreed. If they had a Sweet 16-ready team for next year, I could see it, but they need a lot of work and the last thing they need is to go through the hiring process again in three years.

Can they throw enough money at Brad Stevens to bring him back to the college game?
