Most coaches will get passes this year, with the adversity. Second I'm really proud of the team and thought we were playing pretty solid basketball towards the end of the season. The player had to sacrifice so much this year. Staying in a lockdown, not going home for holidays...That's tough on a 18-22 year old. Thanks guys
I 100% think you are right that JJ will another season.
But where is the line here? What is the standard? So we go out win 20 games and finish 3rd in CUSA again next year, are we sitting here again with the admin saying well he won 20 games, and finished in the top four. He always finishes in the top four and wins 20 games. He has the highest average finish in CUSA over his tenure. You can't fire a coach with a record like that. Like, there has to be a line drawn somewhere. Eventually, if we keep dragging this out, he is going to reach another NCAAT and then after we have reached 2 NCAATs in 10 years we will start the entire cylcle over. You can't fire the guy, he took us to the NCAAT 2 years ago...
Here's the thing. I don't thing anyone believes that JJ is going to elevate the program beyond what it currently is. I think most of us think that where we currently are is not where we are capable of being. You have to just pull the freaking trigger and accept that it is time to move on before the dude finds a way to stick around for another 5-7 years.

Yeah, you seem really brokenhearted
And your not???
Pretty sure that was sarcasm.
Brokenhearted/pissed what difference does it make! I know RR is pissed, I'm pissed you should be pissed as well as all of Monarch Nation should be pissed! This has gone on long enough. We should not accept mediocrity any longer. No more next year. The time has come, JJ needs to go!
All of us have particular things that set us off - - check out the COVID thread that has been banished to the Off Topic section if you care to see some of mine.
But if Razor’s pain at always being right is what manages to raise your blood pressure, you must have a blessed life.

So who is going to take this program in this conference with the money we can offer to Blaine or higher levels? Aside from rolling the dice and hiring a scummy Rick Pitino or Bruce Pearl type rebounding from a scandal that will go deep into the gray areas while everyone looks the other way, I just don’t see it happening. We have no money and nobody to recruit. Sad to say but I wonder if JJ might be the best we can do until the paradigm changes.

Excellent question but JJ has already proven he can't/won't. It is well past time to try someone else.

If it leads to us getting a real freaking coach i wont be upset at all.
We are cutting programs and canceling seasons because we’re broke and bet the house, double or nothing, on the football hire. We aren’t getting a real coach unless we free up some money and join the A10.
Who has the $400k for the buyout. Then who's coming here after we fire a coach who won 2/3s of their games. I'm not saying JJ is the answer. We don't have an out, it isn't like we're looking at 1-11 coach.

So we have many more years to spend here in purgatory until JJ retires or Warren Buffett writes us into his will. I wonder for which sin or sins we are suffering this fate.

We absolutely have an out. You fire the coach that has the worst record of NCAAT appearances in school history by a wide margin. You will not have any trouble finding coaches that want the gig and 400k is like 1% of the budget. Someone just has to have the balls and commitment to excellence to make the call.

Who cares what ramen thinks? He is a bore who states the obvious.

And we paid more for coaches 15 years ago. JJ just isn’t worth it. I’d be happy for them to cut his salary even more, but give him an extra $200k per NCAA appearance. Something has to give. Sitting home in March sucks.

I think next year is JJ's final year under contract. With that being, said I predict JJ will leave after next year with Reese, Oliver and Klua leaving. What is left and what is the a better time to leave, when the team needs a new coach to build an empty roster.

Yeah that about nails where I’m at. Until we can find some long term financial relief, we are stuck.

If we don’t find a better paradigm, the purgatory is going to far outlast Jeff Jones.

You think we were bottom half, we were in the top-25% of a 14 team conference and played pretty well going into the tourney. We had only lost two out of the last 8 games. The game vs UNT, we just needed one player beside Curry to step up or make one more three.
