Home game added vs. Elon (Saturday, 6 PM) - CofC games cancelled
I just received word of this.
The Charleston games have been cancelled, but we at least picked up a replacement home game.
I'm not sure yet if there's a plan to play Elon on the road as well so each team gets 2 games. Elon had their home games with Hofstra cancelled this weekend as well.

Just the 1 game on Saturday:
https://caasports.com/news/2021/2/23/cha...edule.aspx
RICHMOND, Va. (February 23, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced that Charleston’s upcoming men’s basketball games against UNCW on February 25 and 27 have been cancelled due to CoVID-19 protocols within the Charleston program.
UNCW will now host Elon for a 6 p.m. game on Saturday, February 27.
The status of the Charleston men’s basketball team for the 2021 Hercules Tires CAA Men’s Basketball Championship remains unchanged at this time.

We will only have 7 players for the game. Star news did not sat which players would play.

The overwhelming stupidity of universities is stunning in depth and breadth.

Yep, seemingly getting worse! Ivy league cancelled all spring sports, you know, outdoor baseball is so risky

I guess the "science and data" crowd missed the fact that the hyped up "positives" has miraculously plummeted in the past 6 weeks.

The local sports talk host here in Charleston talked to their radio guy and said that CofC has to isolate for 10 days, but they can get back the day before their first game in the CAA tournament, since they got a bye until Sunday.
Quarantine is 14 days, isolation is 10 days. It was protocols, while the first pause was a positive case.

Just left my Docs for annual physical, said that they have only seen a Dz cases of Flu this year, usually by this time they would be in the 100s. Did flu REALLY disappear, or is it all just counted as Covid?
A $hitshow of a year. Thank goodness these kids are getting an extra year of eligibility from this. As a bonus, they can likely get close to a masters on scolly which is something that wasn't possible before

Flu cases likely down due to less interaction between people Hoops.
Covid cases are down, but teams keep testing positive which sucks for us fans.
Are y’all sure we just have 7 guys? That sucks!!

Thanks TKE. Sucks for us, but it is what it is.
I would like a little more explanation from the staff about the guys so we would know the deal better as to why only 7 as long as it’s not too intrusive.

Have you considered that some of the same behaviors being used to try to prevent COVID spread are also effective ways to avoid the flu? I’ll bet the common cold frequency has dropped a good bit too.
Not saying it was all worth it by any means, but it is a decent silver lining.

Absolutely that accounts for SOME of it, but zero chance there is that big of a drop based on that alone.

Weren't we rolling with only 8-9 guys several weeks ago anyways? I'm really not all that surprised that we only have 7, unfortunately.

But how? They have been resting for two weeks. Theoretically some of the banged up guys would be eligible and should be ready. This doesn't make sense to me unless there is a handful of guys that have not cleared the ridiculous protocols.

Both times I’ve taken my kids to the doctor with a fever this year they have run influenza A and B tests. I get it. You think it’s all exaggerated. Some of it is. Variant this variant that right now, for example. Double masks, etc. But several of y’all are just relentless contrarians with a lot of strong feelings. I’m over this crap, too. When all have had a chance at vaccination I’m not holding back. And yes the vaccines available in the US should be good enough for these variants...even SA strain.
But a simple check on influenza positivity rates in 2020/2021 season vs the 5 year average is all you need to evaluate your assertion of the great influenza cover up. The 5 year influenza positivity rate is around 15% but for this season is 0.17%. The current pace of testing by reporting clinical and public labs is also set to exceed or match the highest number of tests performed in any of the preceding 5 flu seasons. This literally took me about 5 minutes to research. So while I agree with your frustrations and am also empathetic to your covid fatigue, just do some quick fact checking before you project your feelings on everyone.
