With what is already known about covid and how it routinely is carried non symptomatically, how can you fault teams who are doing the right things and still getting hit? You absolutely cant fault teams (mostly) because they can literally be doing everything right and still catch it. Welcome to a sport that is always in close contact with others. Its inevitable. And Drexel is not immune. We were hit in the preseason, and have been fortunate to have not been hit during the season, like the women have and many others. If it were not for the implications of money this season likely would not have played. But the NCAA was not going to miss out on large revenue again so the only method was power through and inconvenience to all.

When I mention "punish", I'm just talking about their place in the tournament seedings, that missed games due to an infection on their end should count as a ghost loss. Not an actual loss for forfeit, but a loss for determining tournament seedings. It's not like I'm saying that teams should get fined.

There's still a tournament that needs to be played, so if the infections drop a team's seed by a few places, they can still make up for it by beating who they play.

UPDATE....
Drexel MBB will be traveling to JMU for a game on Sunday at 2:00. I would have thought that JMU would come to Drexel since they're also playing at JMU at the end of the season. But I'm still glad that they're going to try to get another game in this weekend, and get an extra trip to play at the location of the CAA Tournament.

Will they still play JMU twice at the end of the season or only once?

Probably twice. They played 3 games against W&M. They lost 6 games so far against UNCW, Elon, and Northeastern. They're no way they can make them up, so I guess they'll do whatever they can to get as close to 18 as possible, even if it means having a completely unbalanced schedule. So at this point, if they are lucky enough to play the remainder of their schedule, they'll be at 14.

JMU beat NU last weekend. I’m the least confident JMU MBB of all-time, but I wonder how our teams will matchup.

Press release made it seem like it is once. Todays game was moved from one of the other games later in the season. So I wont be surprised if something cancels the other games and we end up losing a game because of this

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Some interesting scheduling notes for Drexel. Neither their men's or women's teams have had a positive Covid test since CAA play began. We are in the 6th weekend of the CAA season, meaning that both teams should have 12 games in through tomorrow. So far, Men will hopefully have played 8 of a potential 12, and the women also played 8 of a potential 12. So far just 2 of 8 for both teams have been played at the DAC.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
And as expected, the team that Drexel is about to play has a positive test within the program, and this weekend's MBB games are cancelled. This is the 4th time that Drexel's upcoming CAA opponent had a positive case while Drexel did not. I think it's the 7th time overall that this has happened. I haven't looked at the schedule and I don't know who is available, but it would be nice if UNCW, Northeastern, or Elon could come to the DAC this weekend.

Only once in 7 CAA weekends have both the Drexel MBB and WBB teams played their regular schedule of games in the same weekend.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
And as mentioned in the other thread. Drexel MBB loses two more home games this weekend with a positive COVID test from Towson. So this is now 12 games cancelled because of Covid test by Drexel's opponent. So now there's a very good chance that they'll be a 7 seed in the tournament despite losing 10 CAA games, 6 of them against the bottom 3 teams in the conference, and 7 home games.

It will be interesting to see if the CAA decides to completely revamp the schedule for the final two weeks of the season so that whoever is available to play can play each other. Other teams have made up games on weekdays, but Drexel has not.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Not sure if this has been discussed but there will only be one JMU game the weekend of the 27th and the game will be on Sunday at 2 ET. The official time has not been announced, but I will be in attendance and was informed yesterday by JMU.

I saw there were some fans there last weekend. How many are they letting in and what does it take to get tickets and be permitted in? Do they let any students in other than the spirit teams?

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Virginia allows 250 fans and that is what JMU has been allowing. Once students came back they are only allowing a limited number of students, pep band, and parents/family of players.

As far as getting tickets early in the season there were a limited number of tickets available to Duke Club members, but as of now those are no longer available as they wanted some students, spirit teams, and pep band to get a chance to go to games. As a donor to the arena project I was given the opportunity to attend a game and was originally set to attend the Maryland game which did not happen due to Covid. I then chose the Drexel game as there is a football game that weekend and hoped that Virginia would have raised there limits for outdoor events, but have not done so.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
The e-mail from the Drexel Ticket Office confirms that Drexel finished up their regular season at JMU on Friday at 4:00. So I guess they're just fine playing only half of their CAA games and just 2 of them at the DAC.

It's still frustrating that Drexel, the CAA and the media have been silent on this. I have no idea of this is what the team wants or if they are frustrated with the situation as well.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
i was surfing through some other conferences to see how we stack up as far as games played. 6 or the caa's 10 teams haven't played 10 games yet. that's the exception rather than the rule based on what i'm seeing. american out of the patriot has only played 6 games total. bc out of the acc has played 10 games. the nec and maac did pretty well overall. i can't comment on what those leagues did to get games played.

either way...yeah...this was a waste of everybody's time.

coverage of us has always been non-existent. coverage of college basketball period has been almost non-existent this year. they were talking on cbs sports radio this morning about they're just looking forward towards the tournament happening. nobody will watch a baylor-gonzaga final. the game of basketball in general is at a crossroads. wonderful game being played horribly...sort of like baseball where everyone just wants to hit home runs.

Disagree, Baylor/Gonzaga would be a great game to watch. If people dont watch that then they just dont like college basketball. Duke/Kentucky/Kansas/UNC dont have to be there to be a worthwhile game that should garner lots of eyes. I think whomever makes the fianls it will be heavily watched, since last years was canceled.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
If the argument is about who's going to watch the NCAA Final, it's really a non-issue. Fans of the teams involved, diehard CBB fans and fans who have a chance to win money on their bracket will watch, just like every year. For me, other than recent Villanova finals years, I haven't watched a final four game since Butler nearly knocked off Duke. I just don't care, and won't watch this year unless Nova is involved. And I'm not rooting for that to happen.

HC, you say that they're wasting everyone's time by having a season, but you and everyone else knows why they're doing it. KA-CHING!!!!

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
just so i have something nice to say...cause sometimes i feel like i never do...i enjoyed the last few minutes of the sju-lasalle game on saturday. i was rooting for sju to remain winless in the a-10. sadly they won. daly is the guy the dac pack would have loved to hate and hall is next in line. he was running his mouth like they were 14-1 instead of 1-14.

i've always liked those cross town/geographic rivalries. you guys know that. it was fun when we had a piece of it back in the 2000s. these conferences have gotten so spread out and there are too many games i just can't get excited about. i was lucky to be in philly before everything went downhill.

after sju/lasalle was gmu/vcu. i think that game went overtime too...or at least went down to the wire. the a-10 has done a nice job keeping together some of the virginia and philly rivalries. i wish temple was still there...another football related move.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
I think COVID is going to fast track conferences back to something more sensible and those things will be happening once again sooner, rather than later. When those dominos start to fall, I expect Drexel to drop to DII or more than likely find its way back into the AEast as an outcast (CAA wont make it)
