[NEWS] Supreme Court rules Trump must surrender tax documents to New York prosecutor.
This is a criminal investigation of Trump. The tax documents may provide evidence of criminal cover ups by Trump.

Trump's former lawyer, the now disbarred/felon Michael Cohen, will likely provide evidence against Trump. Cohen has already made numerous public statements concerning Trump's alledged illegal activities. The tax documents may be used by the New York DA to support Cohen's versions of those events.

Cohen turned against Trump a long time ago. Anything he could say or do has already been said or done.

If he committed a crime, then he should be held accountable.....

No different than auditing voter ballots or the machines that count them. Trump is probably screwed and that is fine if he really did break the law.

Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney, provided a statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling - to the effect that the ruling is evidence that no one is above the law and that Trump will now be held accountable for his dishonest activities. Here -

Another political witch hunt. Name any politician on either side of the aisle who has seen this much scrutiny when it's blatantly obvious how some can go from the outhouse to the penthouse so quickly off of $174,000 per year or whatever the federal critters got before voting themselves pay raises.

Been over this 1000 times. Individuals hire attorneys to do things for them LEGALLY. Trump never did anything. He always paid someone else to do it. This is a witch hunt. Are they subpoenaing Trump's tax returns or Trump Inc. tax returns? Tax returns only tell you for what and how much you paid in taxes. His taxes have been audited ad nauseum. This will go away. What will likely happen is his tax returns will be released to the media and somebody will go to jail for that.

The only person who will go to jail over this is the numbnut in the NY justice department who decides to start leaking.

Can't stand Trump, but if you think this is what will get him after 4.5 years of them throwing anything and everything they could at him; then you got a hole in your head.

And the leakers should get the brunt of this.

More information from the New York Times concerning the importance of obtaining Trump's tax documents from 2011 to 2018. In addition to hush money payments there may be evidence that the Trump organization paid "consulting fees" to Ivanka Trump amounting to millions of dollars. In addition there may be evidence that Trump inflated the value of his properties in order to obtain loans on those properties while, at the same time, deflating the value of those same properties for the purposes of reducing property taxes.

Trump has a history of questionable business dealings, but you'd have to think he would insulate himself away from anything illegal.

Also, easier to be convicted by 12 people in a criminal court than 2/3rds of the Senate that votes on party lines.

The media will be scrambling to fill someone's pockets for those tax returns

None of which is going to be available from Donald Trump's tax returns.

And the whole thing about inflating values for loans and deflating them for property taxes seems very curious to me for at least two reasons. One, both the banks involved as the taxing authorities have every right and opportunity to conduct their own appraisals, and they would have had to buy off on the numbers, too. Two, in any event they entity involved in any of those tax matters would not have been Donald Trump personally but some limited partnership or LLC in which Donald Trump may or may not have held an equity interest. If the rumors that made the rounds on the left are true, that after Atlantic City the banks forced him out and merely paid him a hefty naming rights fee, then Donald Trump would not actually have ben involved in any of the alleged behaviours.

It's truly bizarre.

None of us really know what information Cyrus Vance is sitting on and why he is requesting access; & I doubt they are limiting their request to only tax returns.

lol, they really really need to keep Trump in the news. Hell, the left likes him more than the right it seems sometimes. It's almost as if the left needs Trump.

Absolutely true. It is the one thing that the left recognizes that the right does not.

Former president Trump is virtually the ONLY prayer that the left has in holding onto a baseline, fraud-enabling portion of the electorate once the price of their insane policies become apparent:

=> Cancellation of Keystone caused huge job losses and the price of energy to skyrocket? Hey, Orange Man Bad.

=> A flood of immigrants permitted to roam free after illegally crossing our southern border? Remember, now, Orange Man Bad.

=> Unbridled "stimulus" funds misdirected to favored leftist causes. C'mon, man, pay attention: Orange Man Bad.

=> No scientific justification for continued lockdowns? You keep forgetting: Orange Man Bad.

=> Disparate handling of criminal prosecutions dependent upon ® and (D)? G'dammit, citizen, focus: Orange Man Bad.

Sadly, the ironic shame of it all is that that Orange Man and so many of his loyal supporters are more than happy to step up to play this role that the left so desperately needs of them. And it is how and why the left will actually have a fighting chance of winning in 2022 and 2024 notwithstanding the total wrongheadedness of their beliefs.
