NU is playing at North Carolina on Wednesday!

Great job by Konya to schedule another midweek game against a national powerhouse!

Wow, I've heard this year was crazy but this one about takes the cake. A mid February game at the Dean Dome. Will be great for the kids and program to play one of the super powers

This is a good time to play UNC. Lunardi has them "on the bubble" to make the NCAA tourney.

Carolina basketball tweeted yesterday. "Looking to fill a home game this week (Feb 16-18) call if interested." Didn't take long to fill that opening!

Towson has just shut down basketball activities due to a positive player test Monday.

Unreal...

RE: Breaking
1 matchup on the docket still this weekend (Elon-WM). Guessing they will send us to Drexel and JMU to Charleston

It will be interesting if the conference tournaments follow the regular season rules or the NCAA rules. The NCAA has already said a team will not shutdown with a positive case. That player will just isolate and tracing will apply. If the conference tourneys don't do the same (i.e. continue the way they have been), teams are basically at risk of having their season end with even 1 positive case beginning next week

I agree at this point they should be using the same strategy as the NCAA and just isolate players and let others play. It will be interesting to see if they reschedule games at this point. If JMU does not play this weekend we have only one game left on the 28th against Drexel at home.

RE: Breaking
If the tourney was starting this Friday how many teams would be shut out of it? Maybe it's time to end the games so all of the teams have a better chance of playing in the tourney.

RE: Breaking
It’s not set in stone that there definitely be a tournament.

I’ve heard it’s still being discussed if it will be necessary with all of the issues with a handful of teams.

RE: Breaking
So I was wondering all along of it could come to the no tournament scenario (man that would stink with where we are presently).

I was also thinking the same thing. Maybe not playing the last few weeks would give everyone health and equal rust and would be the wisest move at this point. I guess we will know soon enough. If they don't reschedule anything this weekend, that is a sign.

If the tournament were this weekend, Hofstra and Towson (in week 1 of pause) as well as Delaware and UNCW (in week 2) would be out.

I'm not sure what the reason would be to cancel the tourney.... especially if the rest of the games were cancelled and teams were liklier to be Covid free. Why would it be okay to risk Covid exposure during the regular season but not during a tourney?

Only rationale that I can think of is that you are now closer to the NCAA tourney and you don't want to have exposure if you don't have to. The fallacy in that argument is that I don't think most of these teams Covid shutdowns are related to spread from team to team, but rather other community spread while just living life no matter how careful that life is.

I don't know how most of the infections have occurred, either but it would be hard to argue that being on the court last weekend in the face of a Towson player who has now tested positive for Covid is not a risk. Or maybe the player got infected on the plane or at the hotel.

There is a reason why conferences send their tourney winner to the NCAA'S. It doesn't matter if you''re returning thirteen players. It matters how good you are at the end of the season and how you perform under pressure at the tourney.

The issue you have is that you don't even know who in the program tested positive it could have been a coach or walk-on who would not have exposure to your players. Hofstra is now on Covid pause and we just played them twice so fingers crossed there as well. When JMU had its one Covid stop it was a walk on and there was no other spread. My guess is most teams try to keep their walk-on's somewhat separated from their other players.

I still don't understand why the league isn't having JMU play CC and us play Drexel this weekend. All 4 of us are off due to teams that had to cancel and that would be consistent with what they've done before. I'm not as concerned with the seeding as I am in getting games. Maybe they have made the decision to not make games up but play any they can which are scheduled (which would make no sense)

The first report I saw said it was a player. I just Googled "Towson covid basketball" and local TV outlets and The Sun are reporting that it was a player that tested positive. In any case, my position is that it is needlessly risky to socially distance and wear masks twenty-four seven.....except for two hours when you do the exact opposite. I want our guys to not do anything that increases the odds of missing the tourney.

PS. Things are about to change. Until now the consequences of having a player test positive were having to shut down for two weeks. Starting later this week the consequences are missing the tourney.
