Widespread Power Outages in Texas as Renewable Energy FAILS
So what happens to the US Power Grid when all energy comes from "Reliable" renewable energy sources. How stable will power grids be when shorter daylight hours in winter and frozen wind turbines reduce power generating capacity? We won't be able to use backup fossil fuel generators since they will be banned.

Quote:Nearly half of Texas' installed wind power generation capacity has been offline because of frozen wind turbines in West Texas, according to Texas grid operators.

Wind farms across the state generate up to a combined 25,100 megawatts of energy. But unusually moist winter conditions in West Texas brought on by the weekend's freezing rain and historically low temperatures have iced many of those wind turbines to a halt.

And the solar panels are under inches of snow at the moment.

Don't worry. Bill Gates is going to block the sun.

Southwest Freeway in Houston is under inches of snow.

The power failures are primarily the extreme cold blowing transformers.
My sister in Galveston County lost hers this morning for a few hours.

Gee, if only there was some way to release the tremendous potential energy contained in large atomic nuclei.

We could've spent many billions on that instead of giving it to Obama's buddies in the solar business.

I had hoped that the completion of Units 3 & 4 at Vogtle would have spurned a nuclear renaissance. Unfortunately the cost overruns are so high that it is going to raise energy costs in GA.

Remember when Trump warned about this, and the left fact checked him like idiots?4

TRUMP: “It’s very intermittent. It’s got a lot of problems.”

THE FACTS: He’s e xaggerating the downsides.

Trump’s opinion about wind power being unreliable isn’t shared by many big energy users.

Trump was right again.

The official word is that its just too cold and the grid can't handle the demand.

If I recall correctly the Texas power grid is independent of the rest of the US. I'm actually surprised they don't have more fossil fueled plants.

RE: Widespread Power Outages in Texas as Renewable Energy FAILS
Update the warming narrative is on shaky footing with the Church of the Climate Change so now a new prophecy has been added "Thou Shalt See Unpredictable Weather".

Quote:The brutal cold striking Texas -- the capital of the U.S. energy industry and home of some of the world’s largest oil and gas companies -- is emblematic of a world facing more unpredictable weather due to the rising impact of climate change. The outages also underscore the growing vulnerability of the grid as the globe moves away from fossil fuels to an all-electrified system increasingly reliant on renewable

Blackouts Cascade Beyond Texas

IF only the coal fired plants had not been decommissioned and most new power generation capacity is from the "CLEAN RELIABLE" wind and solar energy. Here in Charlotte NC we've had about two weeks of heavily overcast skies and lots of rain I would imagine that would translate to a substantial loss of solar capacity add to that unseasonably cold weather IF we were dependent on "Renewable" energy we'd be in the same shape as Texas. I guess renewable energy is only renewable IF the weather cooperates.
