At least all schools are used to virtual teaching - whether they do it well or not is a different story - but they are used to it

I remember the 85 one, we had a good snow day from school.

Here in Wisconsin we had a snow in December that they didn't cancel virtual schools for. The teachers were upset because many were teaching from their classrooms and didn't have the supplies they needed at home, but couldn't get to their schools to get the stuff.
A few weeks ago we got a lot of snow and they declared the day a traditional snow day. The next day was back to virtual school. I think the kids need to be able to get out into it for a little while, even with the virtual schooling, but snow days are likely going to be more of a thing of the past.

Memphis teachers here have been "virtual" for almost a year now. Which really means they've had about 335 straight snow days. No accountability.

My kid has been virtual since last march too. It's rough, especially on young kids like ours and working parents like myself and my wife, but we understand the reasons. Thankfully they've worked out protocols and he goes back to in person in a month.

I invited my parents over for brunch and none of us realized that there is a thin layer of ice. Apparently, my dad sled through two lights and my mom made him turn around and go back home.

I’m now drunk in a food coma of biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, and eggs.

Really cold weather dry snow is so much different from our normal 30-degree weather wet snow.

This one looks like it's going to be a dry snow - once we got past the ice the other day.

We got an ice storm in 1998 with around 80 consecutive hours of freezing rain and an accumulation of 2.5 - 5 inches of ice. It killed people, 4 million people lost power, knocked out at least 1,000 power lines, and thousands had no power for weeks, sometimes even months. Areas of downtown were cordoned off and streets were blocked by massive chunks of ice falling off of buildings.

In downtown Montreal, power was rationed for the better part of a month. Streets would have groups of buildings with power for 24 hours and others getting for 24 hours after that.

Yeesh.

Funny, the opposite is why I am happy to have moved up north. I'll put up with the cold for no humidity during the summers.

Bugs that live in humidity are a pain.
Skin burns in the sun — near the equator it burns faster but up High it fries . Even on a cold day.

Flatlanders tend to forget that when they get above sea level. Maybe it’s the oxygen lol

Definitely remember the one in 85. Got stuck on Walnut Grove just off 240 for a long long time.

It's just about stopped here. Looks to be about 5".
